      We usually dehydrate our meals on backpacks, and plan on doing so on our (first) JMT hike this summer.  One of several books on the subject is "Backpack Gourmet" by Linda Yaffe:
      What we need to do between now and then is to figure out what meals will work best for us on such a long trip.

      We are hoping to avoid commercial freeze dried foods because of additives so I am experimenting with our dehydrator. I saw many commercial organic freeze dried foods but most of them were vegetarian and very low in calories for a longer trip.
