I add to that:
Learned Muslims always maintained that the miracle of the Quran is its
eternal divine origin that it came directly from heaven to the unlearned
Mohammed (thus, there is no dynamic equivalent to translate its divine
Secondly, learned Muslims do not necessarily compare Jesus and Mohammed but
Jesus and the Quran as the divine Word but Mohammed and Mary as bearers of
the Word. That is why (the apologist would say) Mohammed did not perform
miracles as Jesus did, after all neither did Miriam, the bearer of Isa. And
that is why one should not worship Mohammed but Allah alone. It would be
interesting to see how a Muslim scholar would flesh out such comparisons.
