      Is anyone a starter for this - pure speculation, though possibly some theological grist?
       
      Is there any special reason why the writer chooses PNEUMA as the one of whom believers are born/begotten?  If 1.12 calls them "children of God" (TEKNA QEOU), if they are "born from above" where Jesus comes from (3.31), would it not be more natural to be "born of the Father?"
