      M-x (esc-x) help-item notes

Will give you the help page.

When you run notes up it will give you a split view.
Right click in the left-hand window to create a new note - there are some help options there.
M-h (esc-h) in the Notes window will give you some help.

Basically create a note heading in left hand window, then move to right and type some text i.e.:

This is some shell code to start services:

      >shell>
      % svcadm enable network/cswfetchmail
      % svcadm enable network/cswdovecot
      % svcadm enable network/smtp:cswsendmail
      >end>

You could put some 'C' code in:

      >c>
      printf ("Hello World");
      >end>

      etc.

Ctrl-x Ctrl-s in the notes fille will save it.

Then when you want to create a new note then use the left-hand window and create a new note.

      Hope that helps
      Jon.
