Try doing search and replace on some text, using a wildcard. For example, edit this text, and do a query-replace-string search for "test." and replace with "testX". Hit SPACE a couple of times to accept the changes, then try 'u'. What does it undo and put back? Not the last-replaced text, but the currently found text!

      test1
      test2
      test3
      test4
      test5

Mine now looks like this (I hit 'u' when the cursor was on test4):

      testX
      testX
      test4 <--- say what?
      test4
      test5

Fortunately, one can use '.' to exit the function and then use ^Z to undo it. That does put back the correct text.
