- SPECIAL COVER ISSUED AT DHARMASTHALA DURING MAHAMASTAKABHISHEKA OF BHAGWAN BAHUBALIA beautiful special Postal Cover has been issued at Dharmasthaka (Karnataka) on 28th Jan. 2007 on the occasion of Bhagwan Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka Mahotsava.. Indian Postal Department had provided special cancellation on this cover. Special cover bears image of 40 feet high idol of Bhagwan Bahubali situated on the Ratnagieri hill at Dharmasthala while special cover depicts image of beautiful entrance gate for the Ratnagiri Hill.
Dharmastala is a SARVA-DHARMA pilgrimage center situated in Dakshina Kannara District of Karnataka having Hindu, Jain and Shaiva temples. Since long, Holy Chiefs (Kshetradhikari) of this place are from a very religious Jain family called Heggades. Presently Dr. Veerendra Heggade is the 21st Heggade. He was awarded Padmabhushan in the year 2000. He is running various social activities like educational institutions, hospitals, mass marriages, village upliftment etc.A 40 feet statue of BHAGWAN BAHUBALI was established here in the year 1982 by Padmabhushan Rajarshi Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade. First Mahamastakabhisheka was organized at Dhamasthala in the year 1982 at the time of installation of this idol. Second Mahamastakabhisheka was organized in the year 1995.
