Acharya Merubhushan Sagarji on Fast Unto Death

      Delhi: 3rd October 2006 Tuesday

Jain Acharya Merubhushan Sagarji today went on fast unto death to
oppose Narendra Modi's anti-conversion bill in which he has clubbed
      Jains and Buddhists with Hindus.

In the historical Lal Jain temple near red fort in Old Delhi Acharya
Merubhushan Sagarji announced his fast unto death this morning in his
      sermon at 10 A.M.

He declared that he will take only water for first ten days. If
Gujarat Government doesn't revoke the anti-conversion bill within 10
days, Acharya Merubhushan Sagarji will stop taking water also until
      death.

Acharya Merubhushansagarji had announced to go on fast from 3rd
October after the bill had passed in Gujarat Assembly. Jains and
Buddhists all over India are opposing this bill as the bill has
      vanished their distinct religious identity.
