A brilliant posting to start the new year! Every word worth its weight in gold! If people were to understand your message, all the new panths that have emerged in the 20th century would have to close shop!

A masterly posting! Only you could have written it.

Anyone who has read the Tattvarthasutra and Kundakunda's masterpieces "Dansanapahuda"
(Skt. Darshana-prabhrta) and "Carittapahuda" (Skt. Caritra-prabhrta) should have no confusion in his mind in this regard.

      Dear valued Members
Let me once again greet you all in the New Year 2006. For a mumukshu, every day is a new day. For him or her, happiness or sadness born out of vedaniya is of no relevance.
Now let me take up the discussion on the topic.
For the sake of understanding the path, the procedure, the mission, we split the only activity, the consciousness, the chaitanya bhavana into three or more such as (i) faith or perception or bhakti or darshan (ii) knowledge or know-how and (iii) execution or practice Since the author and the beneficiary is one and the same viz. one Self, in reality, the whole event amalgamates or merges into a single seamless entity. The process of having faith in an act, know-how of the act and actual execution all merge like the mythological triveni sangam in the manner of speaking at any given moment. This kind of unity in trinity of division to occur, the pre-requisite is the so-called bheda vigyan, i.e to separate self from non-self in the entire chetna event. Going by the first Sutra of Tatvaartha Sutra, the unity of trinity is the path of liberation and neither less nor more than that. To know how to go about it, please read any of the agams such as Tatvaartha Sutra or Ratnakarandha Sravakachar. Please read the original agams and do not just get satisfied with commentaries with recent grahasthas.

Unfortunately, an event of Self, the pure chaitanya has been compartmentalized into separate identities like faith, gyan and charitra over a period of time so much so that vedic religionists talk of three distinct marg's as bakti yog, gyan yog and karma yog etc. In the medieval India, a slogan was created such as Mukti by bhakti thereby underselling Mukti or Moksha and this false propaganda goes on and on even today. It is absurd. By these three distinctions, it has been explicitly implied, you can be a split personality. In other words, you can be claiming to be a great devotees but practise butchery as an example. The so-callled Bhakti zealots of Hindu belief dispensed the need to have minimum characters   in terms of food and lifestyle This is evident from their purans like PeriaPuranam, Devaram in Tamil.

Such an affliction has got up recently in Jain life in another form. You can be ceaselessly talking of nischaya naya all the time but behave as a bahiratma day in and day out. There is a need of censure of such one-dimensional activities.

Some confusion has been fuelled in one of the messages that there can be a substitute for Arihant or His agam in guiding us. Let us just ignore such distortions and be guided only by Agam and vitarag gurus. Let us not create Frankenstein among clothed people. The Omniscient Arihants and Siddhas are always available; just close your eyes and meditate. When sunrays can reach us, Their gyan rays can reach anywhere unless one wants to shut one's doors and misguide oneself and others.
Miccha Mi dukkadam and sorry for some strong words.
      With regards
      Dev

        Dear Friends:

Jai Jinendra. Nice comments from dr. C. Devakumar. His last statement:

The Omniscient Arihants and Siddhas are always available; just close your eyes and meditate.

To me, " just close your eyes and meditate" is BHAKTI. While meditating, the soul generates good BHAV KARMA that can dissolve bad karma. Of course, with this, one needs to have right conduct too. One needs to remember that there is no free lunch. This is SRAMAN TRADITION. This is a major characteristic of SRAMAN TRADITION or Philosophy and this represents a major difference between Sraman tradition & Vedic tradition or philosophy.  However, because of influence of Sraman tradition, role of Karma theory is well recognized in Vedic philosophy even while worshipping Lord Shiva or Lord Vishnu or Lord Brahma. Karma theory is a major contribution of Sraman tradition.

        Regards,

        Naresh
