Los Angeles, California December 1, 2001A Justice CaroleTwas the night before ChristmasAnd in the courthouseThe Defendant sat squirmingLike a trapped little mouseHe'd appeared as was toldIn his hand he did holdA ticket he gotIn a parking lotThe cop said he did a most hideous thingDropped a cigarette butt from his window wingWhen the Defendant asked what he had done wrongThe cop replied as he chewed on his chewIt is Ok for me, but not for you.The Judge strutted in while a scowl on his faceHe sat at the bench and his eyes scanned the placeThe Defendant said innocent, His head he held bentDown came the gavel with a helluva crashOne thousand Dollars and pay it in cash"But," the Defendant did say,SILENCE, the Judge screamed, or a year and a dayI have no money to payThen lock him awaySo the defendant he sat in a jail cell so coldTill he coughed up the money, as he was toldAs the Judge called the next case, And scanned every face.The fear he created, Was all through the placeIt's money or jailor your family for bailOr a warrant for arrestYou'll get in the mailSo pay the fineAnd you won't do timeFor something the cop,called a hideous crimeAuthor unknown
