      J.A.I.L. Jolts Florida
Sherree Lowe, the Chapter Leader for Florida J.A.I.L. and I, Nancy Grant, started picketing county by county throughout Florida. We started with Charlotte County. Jane Steffer came forward to be the Charlotte County J.A.I.L. Cell Warden. She wants to start a newsletter for Florida.
We are still receiving calls from inmates families and inmates writing us about jail4judges. The next week we picketed DeSoto County Courthouse. The following day there was a fabulous article on the front page about J.A.I.L. Anyone that wants a copy, let me know. Sherree's picture was on the front page making a jail4judges poster.
Because of picketing, and that article, I have been contacted by folks in DeSoto County where I live, and these people want to picket the Department of Children and Families for J.A.I.L. We have set a date of next Tuesday the 8th of May.
This lady, Mary Johnson, says she wants to go tomorrow with me to Lee County Justice Center to picket. We usually do the whole  day from 10am to 5pm. There are JAILers lined from Lee County already planning to show up to carry signs and hand out fliers. I am seeing our numbers growing. The people are coming forward and are overcoming their fears of standing for their rights.
I picketed in Hardee County on the 21st of April.  While getting the picket signs out of my truck, three cops came up with their lights on and asked if I had a permit. I told them "We have the right to demonstrate peacefully, don't you know your Constitution?  Under the first amendment we have the right to demonstrate peacefully."
Then the City Administrator showed up, then the press from Wachula. In about 30 minutes there were about 12 people all in a stir from seeing my picket signs. It was the biggest thing that hit Hardee County in quite a while. I stayed for 4 hours, and picked up names and phone numbers of eight individuals that asked me to come again and they would love to help carry signs. These folks were from Hardee. The day I was there, I went by myself when all the commotion began that morning. I said, "Well, I came to bring Jail4judges to Hardee County and stir things up a bit, and it looks like I've accomplished that!" I was cheerful and happy and continued carrying my signs till noon. ... Because of my effort, I now have eight recruits in Hardee, and they like what we are about.
JAIL4JUDGES will hit every county in the State of Florida.
       Nancy Grant
