- Elijah Foshee was b. 1794 in SC. He married Martha ?. Their children
included (1) Alexander H. b. Aug. 10, 1824, in GA., d. Jan. 5, 1897, in
Jackson County, buried in family grave site on farm near Caperton
cemetery. Alexander married Evalina Merrell, daughter of Andrew Merrell
and Millie Tatum. Evalina was b. March 23,1822, NC. She and Alexander
married May 3, 1843, in Trenton, Dade County, GA. She d. Oct. 23, 1896,
in Jackson County and is buried beside Alexander in family plot. Helen
Horn of South Pittsburg, and I are descendants of Alexander and Evalina
and we are in process of getting a new grave marker installed at their
(2) James Foshee.

(5) John Anderson Foshee
There are several Foshee graves in the family plot located on the old
Foshee farm and also several graves in Caperton cemetery.
Children of Alexander and Evalina were:
(a) Martha Ann, b. May 10, 1844 in Dade County, GA., married John C.
Shirley Aug. 12, 1865, d. May 2, 1909, buried in Caperton cemetery.
(They are my ggrandparents).
(b) James Hardy, b. April 3, 1846, Jackson County, married 1st, Josie
Caperton, 2nd, Emma Mattie Virginia Sellers, 3rd, Mahala T. Caperton.
James d. March 13, 1914, in Jackson County.
(c) Elijah F., b. April 10, 1848 in Jackson County, married Katherine
(d) Paralee Elizabeth, b. Aug. 8, 1850, in Jackson County, married
Randolph Austin Hackworth Dec. 19, 1869, d. May 11, 1924, Bridgeport,
buried in Hackworth cemetery, Edgefield, Jackson County.
(e) Andrew W., b. Jan. 23, 1853, Jackson County.
(f) Franklin A., b. April 7, 1856, Jackson County, married Susan K.
Hawkins, d. July 5, 1903, Jackson County.
(g) George H., b. Feb. 7, 1859, married Elizabeth F. Daniels
(h) Ranson E., b. unknown, married Katie Shoemaker.
