I would like to list the names of JOHNSON men who got land patents in 1831 in
Jackson County. I have no idea if they are connected, but I do have one
shred of evidence that suggests they are: of course, my shred does not name these
men, other than my John Johnson.
Colyer Johnson, 15 Aug 1831: Sec. 31/--Twp. 5-S--Rng.--5-E--Acres, 81
John Johnson, 10 May 1831: Sec. 32/--Twp. 2-S--Rng.--8-E--Acres, 139.97
Joshua Johnson, 01 Aug 1831: Sec. 7/--Twp. 6-S--Rng.--5-E--Acres, 181.85
Thomas Johnson, 15 Jun 1831: Sec. 2/--Twp. 5-S--Rng.--4-E--Acres, 79.72
I am comfortable that this is "my" John Johnson as Zachariah Nelson and
Sampson Haws also got patents during this same time frame. Both of these men had
sons that married daughters of John Johnson. (I HAVE to have those kinds of
connections to sort out all of the Johnsons out there).
I have other listings for Johnson men in Morgan and DeKalb Counties if
anybody is interested. My pre-1923 manuscript states that the father of my John
Johnson "and some of his other boys" came to NE AL about 1818/1820. Thus my
hunch that these Johnson men are at least related some way.
Many thanks, Judy in TX
