      This will be the first installment of several posts for burials in Jackson County between 1920 and 1930. Many years ago I copied this information from old records in Probate Office. I have previously published some of these deaths in the Jackson County Historical Association's quarterly publication, THE JACKSON COUNTY CHRONICLES.
      NOTE: The info I will include is ALL THE DATA given on these individuals. Therefore, I can not provide anyone with additional information.

      ANDY OLINGER: farmer; died Feb 21, 1920, 45 years of age; parents were Bettie and Jack Olinger; wife was Mollie Olinger; cause of death: pneumonia; attending physician: Dr. Hugh Boyd.

      JOSEPH BLANCETT: school janitor; 60 years of age at death but no death or burial date recorded although death appears with other Feb, 1920 deaths; no birth date recorded; cause of death was old age; E. D. Hollis was the undertaker

      JACKSON DERRICK: farmer; 70 years of age at time of death on Feb 14, 1920; widowed at time of death; cause of death: pneumonia; place of burial: Limrock; undertaker: R. H. McAnnelly

      W. R. HURLEY or HURLY: farmer; 73 years of age at time of death but no death date recorded; date of burial: Feb 21, 1920; undertaker: R.H. McAnnelly; place of burial: Centerpoint

      WILLIE CHANCE: housework; parents: Thomas W. and Lucinda (Pierce) Kirby; 37 years if age at time of death; no death date recorded but burial was on Mar 13, 1920; cause of death: Tuberculosis; undertaker: E. D. Hollis; attending physician: Dr. Hugh Boyd; place of burial: Pierce Cemetery (in eastern section of Scottsboro)

      VIDA (Burrow) HANCOCK: housewife; age at time of death was 26 years 7 months, and 20 days; died on Mar 30, 1920; parents: John and Mary Jane (Coffey) Burrow; husband: George R. Hancock; attending physician: Dr. Edward Boyd; date of burial: Mar 30, 1020; undertaker: E.D. Hollis;
      place of burial: Finney Cemetery in Scottsboro

      UNNAMED INFANT of Charley and Lora (Bynum) SHELTON: born March 10, 1920; buried March 11, 1920; attending physician: Dr. Edward Boyd; undertaker: R. H. McAnnelly; buried at Tupelo (name of cemetery was NOT stated)

      THOMAS PARKER: broom maker; 74 years, 11 months, and 13 days old at time of death on March 8, 1920; buried on March 9, 1920; father: William Parker who was born in TN; mother's name was NOT recorded but she was born in TN; cause of death: pneumonia; attending physician: Dr. R. R. Bridges; undertaker: E.D. Hollis; buried on March 9, 1920, in Fackler, but name of cemetery was not recorded.

      GEORGE GUFFEY: farmer; 50 years of age at time of death on March 26, 1920; father: Ephraim Guffey born in AL; mother's name was not recorded but was born in AL; cause of death influenza and pneumonia; attending physician: Dr. H. F. Gattis of Aspel; undertaker: Claud Shiflett of Aspel; buried on Mar 23, 1920, in
      Morris graveyard. NOTE by ABC: Which cemetery was called Morris graveyard in 1920????? My best guess would be the one we now know as Guffey Cemetery.

      OLISSIE or ALISSIE M. POE: 40 years of age at time of death but death date NOT recorded; date of burial was Mar 9, 1920; husband: William Poe; cause of death: Tuberculosis; attending physician: Dr. G. C. Nye; parents: John and Malind (Cheek) Moore; place of burial: Hollywood, but cemetery name was NOT recorded.

      UNNAMED INFANT of Dave and Alla or Abba (Jackson) SEABOLT; born on Apr 8, 1920, and died on April 8, 1920; buried on April 9, 1920, at Burgess Cemetery in Scottsboro; attending physician: Dr. Edward Boyd; undertaker: R. H. McAnnelly.

      SUSIE EVETT: housewife; either 22 or 32 years of age at time of death on April 30, 1920; husband: James Evett; parents: William and Susie (Little) Angle; attending physician: Dr. Edward Boyd; undertaker: R.H. McAnnelly; buried Goosepond Cemetery on May 1, 1920

      UNNAMED INFANT of Ernest and Cora CLAYTON; born and died on April 5, 1920; attending physician: Dr. Hugh Boyd; undertaker: R.H. McAnnelly; buried at Center Point Cemetery in Scottsboro

      JOHN H. McCORD: Physician; wife was Alice McCord; 77 years of age at time of death on May ?, 1920; parents: James and Flora (McCloud) McCord who were both born in TN; attending physician: Dr. George C. Nye; undertaker: R.H. McAnnelly; buried at Bellefonte

      THOMAS BEAVERS: farmer; 42 years of age at time of death on June 12, 1920; father: James Beavers; mother's name was NOT recorded; attending physician: Dr. Hugh Boyd; cause of death: broken back, spinal cord crushed; undertaker: R. H. McAnnelly; buried Randles (sic) Cemetery???? Is this what is now known as McAnnelly Cemetery near B. B. Comer and Bob Jones Bridge in eastern edge of Scottsboro?

      EDWARD BOYD: Physician; wife was Rose Boyd; parents: J. H. and Jonnie (Moore) Boyd; 47 years of age at time of death on July 30, 1920; cause of death: neuralgia of the heart; attending physician: Dr. Hugh Boyd (his brother); undertaker: E.D. Hollis; buried in Scottsboro (Cedar HIll Cemetery)
