      Regina,
Hi, it's Joy (remember, from the LCT book thingy??). Anyhoo, the CW re-enactment at Bridgeport plays out a couple of ways, where the South wins, next day the North wins. It's more a "play" so to speak, to give us an idea of the War up close and personal. You should really go, it's great!!
Bridgeport & Stevenson both played large rolls in the Civil War, simply and mainly because of our river and railroads. The old RR Bridge at Bridgeport was burned a couple times. Fort Harker was manned by Union soldiers. It wasn't one of the great battle sites by any means, no Shiloh or Chickamauga, but it was a very strategic location. Once the Union controlled the river and RR, supplies were cut off, etc.
You should see the reenactment, as should any history/genealogy buffs. The site is wonderful ( a couple miles from my house), they try to be historically accurate in dress, formation, etc. And, it's just plain fun. JOY

What were the circumstances surrounding the Civil War fight at Bridgeport,
Alabama? They're having a reenactment there March 18-20th, but I cannot find
any details regarding the date or circumstances...

      Thanks

      Regina
