      At the BLM site there is a land patent where Isaac Matlock transfers 107.1 acres of land in Jackson Co. AL to James Fasset and Co. dated 5/1/1845. Go to following site to see the land patent:

      http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/

      There is a Robert Lea listed on the 1840 for Jackson Co. but there were also a Zechariah Medlock who patented land in Jackson Co. on 10/10/1840

      1840 US Census Jackson Co. AL
      Isaac Medlock Males one under 5; one 5 & under 10; one 15 & under 20; one 40 and under 40:::Females one under 5; one 5 & under 10; one 10 and under 15; one 40 and under 50.

      And by the way it's Rhea County TN pronounced Ray. Rhea ajoins Roane andl like Jackson Co. AL is on the Tennessee River , which you might say was the Interstate of the time..
