HELP ! ! I am researching the Dent Family and am back to the entries for Census Districit 19 of Jackson Co. enumerated December 3rd, 1850 by a Mr. Higgins. He shows as Head of Household one Lucinda Dent, female, age 57 or perhaps 37 (illegible) born in Georgia and widowed within the past year. Residing in the household, all born in Alabama, were: Thomas age 26, Joshua age 22, Rosana age 28, Lucinda age 27, Joseph age 20, Elizabeth age 18, Campbell age 11, and Martha age 28. It seems probable that not all named were chidren of the older Lucinda. Incidentally, Campbell, two brothers Jim and Lou and two sisters, Martha and "Ellender" are to be f ound in the 1860 Census of Pope Co., IL. Campbell's children included an MD, Dr. Joseph Matthew Dent a Judge William Allen Dent and a school teacer and JP, Francis Marion Dent. Martha and Ellender never marriedBut who was Lucinda ? Who was her spouse? What was her maiden name ? Were they married in GA or AL ? Where and when did they die ? Are they buried in Jackson Co Are there any records available to shed light on these questions ? Can any of the group living near or in Jackson Co. provide answers, clues, directions and/or advice ? Thank you in advance for any response. Dr. Earl D. Patton
