I may be able to assist your efforts if you are interested having any one of the Gay family members original land patents listed above geo-referenced and plotted on the current Jackson County Tax Assessors Shape and Line file Maps.  I have just completed this efforts for the entire Rash family original land patents of 1831 through 1858 and then overlaid them on to satellite imagery using Esri Arc 10.1 mapping software.  The Tax Assessors shape file maps provide you with the current owner of the land and all the public information on file with Jackson County while outlining the original land patents so you can visually see how the land has been split into their current parcels from the original acreage.  The satellite imagery provide you with a downward looking view of the current landscape while outlining the original land patent area.  It is much like a customized Google Earth view with the shape of the original land outline imposed over the current map view.  Lots of interesting information can be obtained from this type of mapping.  Please let me know if you are interested and I'll follow up with some examples of the maps created for the Rash family.

        Best Regards,

        William J. Rash
