Subject: [jacksongenealogy] ZACHARIAH SIMMONS & WIFE ELIZABETH RIDDLE

Since it has been a considerable period since I last posted in search of information on my SIMMONS & RIDDLE Family of Jackson County, Alabama.
this is probably a good time to do so once again, as old age is being more successful than my research has been.
My Great Great Grandparents was ELIZABETH RIDDLE, Born about 1825, and ZACHARIAH SIMMONS Born abt. 1820 both believed to
have been Born in or near Jackson County, Alabama, however even
after years of research, ZACHARIAH and ELIZABETH'S Parents identity is still unknown.
ELIZABETH Married ZACHARIAH SIMMONS on December 28, 1839 in Lincoln County, Tn.
They are found on the following year (1840) Lincoln County Tennessee Census report
in South West Lincoln County in an area know as "Kelly's Creek", Living next door to a
BARNETT (BARNET) (BARNEY) RIDDLE in which is believed more likely than not to be ELIZABETH'S Brother, however that's unproven
      to date.

BARNETT RIDDLE was Born about 1820 based on early Census Reports, His Wife's Name was also ELIZABETH .............? (His 1st Wife, believed to have been married at least twice)
BARNETT RIDDLE has been found in early records (1830's) Living in Jackson County, Al.
and records of Service in the Florida Indian War Serving with the Snodgrass Battalion
from Jackson County, Al. He and Wife ELIZABETH were Members of the Early Baptist
Church of Paint Rock Valley in Jackson County, Ala. (1830's)
BARNETT had connections to Obion County Tn. in the far North West section of Tn. this
believed to be a Family Connection.
BARNETT was known to have owned Land at least briefly in Giles County, Tn. wherein
it appears that He operated a Saw Mill on the property that would have been located on
or near the Elk River near the Elkton, Tn. area, however the property
extended over the Al./Tn. State Line into Alabama.
I have listed all known information, factual & speculative, about BARNETT RIDDLE in hopes that someone will recognize some piece of this information that will be my break
into knowledge of the Parents & Family Names of BARNETT RIDDLE & my Great Great
      Grandmother ELIZABETH (RIDDLE) SIMMONS.
ELIZABETH (also known as BETSEY) and Husband ZACHARIAH raised approx. 17
Children in far North East Madison County, Ala. in sections 23 & 24 in the "King Cove"
Rock Branch area below Hodge Mountain wherein they lived from abt. 1847 to 1860, this
property was surrounded on three sides by Jackson County, Alabama.
On the 1850 Madison County Census for District # 34 Household # 244, ZACHARIAH & ELIZABETH are found Living next door to a
JENNY SIMMONS age 60 head of Household of the J.D. Dyal Family wherein is also Living ABIGALE SIMMONS age 22, & J.D.
Dyal's Wife SARAH, age 25 in which I am assuming was SARAH
(SIMMONS) Dyal ? however again, this too is unproven.
On the other side of ZACHARIAH & ELIZABETH is in Household # 245 is MARY SIMMONS age 35 with two minor Children.

My research reveals that JENNY SIMMONS was JOICEY BEAVERS, the Wife of CHARLES SIMMONS.

In reviewing the Mississippi Territory (Madison Co.) Taxable Property list for 1810, 1811, 1812, and 1816, CHARLES SIMMONS
is listed on each year with 160 acres of Land listed at BEAVER DAM FORK OF FLINT RIVER, and also of interest, but of no help to
date is listed with CHARLES SIMMONS during these periods is
      ZACHARIAH SIMMONS
      ZACHARIAH SIMMONS SR.
      ZACHARIAH SIMMONS JR.
Based on these finding, CHARLES SIMMONS & Wife JOICEY BEAVERS could be the Parents of ZACHARIAH SIMMONS, however I really need the help of any SIMMONS (or BEAVERS)
researchers to offer any additional information they may have that
      would help.
Also, does anyone know the location for the Madison County Census
      area of District # 34 in 1850 ?

And can anyone give me any information about the specific location
for "BEAVER DAM FORK OF THE FLINT RIVER" for the 1810-1816 periods ?

If I could find the Burial location for CHARLES SIMMONS & Wife
JENNY BEAVERS, the head stones sometimes

In closing I will mention that the only other possible clues I have into ELIZABETH'S Family
is that on a very early Madison County, Alabama Census ELIZABETH reported to the
Census taker that Her Father was from the State of Virginia, and Her Mother was from
the State of South Carolina, and lastly, based on unproven Family legion passed down,
ELIZABETH was a full blood Cherokee Indian.
I will be so grateful for any help that anyone may offer regardless of how insufficient you
may believe  your information to be.
      My best regards always,
                                                       DWIGHT SIMMONS
Great Great Grandson of ZACHARIAH SIMMONS & ELIZABETH RIDDLE.
