      Gilly Ann (Yarbrough) Anderson was 3rd wife for John Sanders. His wives were:

      (1) Charlotte Brannon, (2) Mary E. "Polly" Freeman and (3) Gilly Ann (Yarbrough) Anderson

      1836-1839, Second Seminole War,

      1862-1865 3rd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry

      Co. D., 3rd Ohio Cavalry.

      John Sanders went off to fight on the Union side

      **Paint Rock Valley Pioneers John Sanders was married first to Charlotte Brannon, second Mary "Polly" Freeman and third to Gilly Yarbrough Anderson.

      John Sanders, farmer, blacksmith and justice of Peace for 35 years. 5ft 10" with red hair, light complexion, brown eyes. Enlisted 27 Aug 1862 at Decherd, Tenn. With a squad if 19 Alabama men, in Co. D. 3rd Ohio Vol. Cal. Discharged 19 June 1865 at Nashville, Tenn. Also in Florida Indian War. (1833-1839). We know of a brother, Alfred H. Mash Sanders and sister, Rebecca Sanders Cornelison.

      The U.S. Claims Court awarded John Sanders the amount of $302.50 for property taken by the Union Army during the war.

      Mrs. Gilley Sanders died at the home of her son-in-law, Cap Posey last Friday of dropsy, age 73 years. She was wife of the late John Sanders of Mud Creek, Ala.

      (This small obit was found under information from the Francisco community-Cap Posey was also known as Oliver Posey-Info from Merle Janette Porter Mackey, Scottsboro, AL

      Gilley told of her brother Henderson Yarbrough who resided in Arkansas, being taken to Little Rock and hung by Rebel soldiers. Her father had to flee from Arkansas to Indiana to protect himself.

      John Sanders had 5 children by 1st wife Charlotte Brannon; Joseph, Mary A., Benjamin, Sarah E. and Eliza Jane Sanders. His oldest son Joseph and his wife Charlotte have both passed away before 1850.
