The records that were flattened by JCHA and microfilmed by LDS are
documents that supported probated estate settlements found in Jackson
County Will books/probate minutes. The first extant Will/Estate
Settlement Book is Will Book K, and its earliest estate settlement is
dated October 1851. (Will/estate settlement books A through J were
destroyed during the Civil War.) The Jackson County Probate Court (and
other local government entities) could not/did not function between 1861
and late 1865. Therefore, the largest percentage of the flattened
      records post-date 1865.
