Thanks, Clay, for the excellent summary of what I might do with a footnote subscription. Are the "trail of tears" service records part of this archive, do you know? I will do their tour so that once I subscribe, I can get my money's worth. I appreciate your time and expertise. Annette Bradford

The Civil War records from NARA are available from www.footnote. com as is the Rev. War Pension applications and many other records. I bought a sub last year for $49.00 when they put it on sale. It is not exactly an easy site to search ( I'm learning) but they have some great stuff. Some records you can search for free.

Over40,000,000 records are on line now.

In cooperation NARA and with the LDS 100s of millions of records are going to be put on footnote's website in the coming years.

There is a free tour if you go to their website.

Another good thing you can upload your ancestor's documents to the site free and as many as you want.

The Rev. War and Civil War documents I have found for my ancestors and relatives has been worth the cost considering what it costs to have NARA do it.

      www.footnote. com
