In reviewing the 1907 Confederate Soldiers Census for Jackson County, AL,
I read that Archibald Hatchett Lanham (Grays Chapel), John DeKalb
Howse/House (Pisgah), and John Whitmore Duckett (Trenton) said they
were in Captain Preston Brown's company of State troops. Samuel Lowery
Harris (Mud Creek) mentioned he was in Captain John Womack's Home Guard.
Joseph L. Money mentioned he was in Captain (Francisco) Rice's Home
Guard. I found a list of Capt. Rice's Home Guard in Jackson County
Probate records and published that list several years ago in the JACKSON
      COUNTY CHRONICLES.
However, I have never discovered a record of Capt. Preston Brown's or
Capt. John Womack's Home Guard units.
QUESTION: Does anyone have any information regarding Brown's and
      Womack's guard units?

Ann, my grandfather, David Wesley Hambrick, son of Greenberry and Elizabeth Margaret (Dameron) Hambrick born 30 March 1831 New Market, Madison County, AL; died 18 October , Maysville, Madison County, AL is buried in Mt. Nebo at Hollytree, Jackson County, AL.

He served in the Sterns-McLemore 4th TN Regiment Company K under Capt. Francisco Rice for 2 years.

He is in the 1907 census but we have been unable to find any of his service records. We did find my grandmother's widow's blank for reclassification of a husband's pension dated 1935.

Furloughed home on account of sickness after two years of service.
        Date of enlistment: Not shown
        Branch of service: Cavalry
        Rank: Private

However, he lived in Jackson County AL in 1907

Hi, I am also still trying to find anyone that may know if Mollie's maiden name was for sure Ledbetter. My great Aunt told me that our grandpa Henry Bradford was married to Mollie Ledbetter. I thought she was the daughter of Burton Ledbetter, granddaughter of Pleasant Ledbetter but on the census it says Henry and Mollie both came from Tennessee. The Mollie Ledbetter Burton's daughter was born in Alabama. Her sister Alabama Missouri married a Wann and they are buried at Price (Lakeview) Cemetery. My Mollie was born in 1868 and according to her stone she died in 1929. Thanks, Gina

Hi, I went to clean my Bradford families graves and they were already clean. Directly behind our graves are Matthews. The mimosa's are on that side. I'm not sure if we are related to them since they are right beside ourgraves. I have never found a link. I will keep checking back and if they are in need of anything. I will take care of them. Since I live in Stevenson (Jackson County). Thanks to whoever made it there before I did, because it looks nice. Thanks, Regina Bradford Moses

There was two ladies cleaning two or three of the BRADFORDS graves the other
day. One of the ladies was married to a BRADFORD. It wont be to long
before this lady is no longer to work there. My sister and I tried to cut
some of the Mimosas that were close to your BRADFORDS and some that were up
front close to the first graves in that section. As you could see they are
taking over the area and need to be cut often. We all need to cut and clean
a little more when we are there.

Hi, I went to clean my Bradford families graves and they were already clean.
Directly behind our graves are Matthews. The mimosa's are on that side. I'm
not sure if we are related to them since they are right beside ourgraves. I
have never found a link. I will keep checking back and if they are in need
of anything. I will take care of them. Since I live in Stevenson (Jackson
County). Thanks to whoever made it there before I did, because it looks
                  nice. Thanks, Regina Bradford Moses

My husband is distantly related Janie. This is what I have about her
                      in my Bradford doc:

Janie (sometimes written Jane E.) Bradford was born April 22, 1893,
the second of eight children of Henry Bradford and his second wife
Mollie Ledbetter. She was born August 10, 1895 and died March 31,
1960. A. She married Erskin Womack and they had one child:

Dot Womack, born February 22,1931, who married a Hicks

There are headstones for the family in Cedar Hill Cemetery in
                      Scottsboro, AL:

                      ERSKIN WOMACK 1-5-1904 N/A
                      JANIE B. WOMACK 8-10-1895 3-31-1960
                      DOT WOMACK 2-22-1931 N/A

According to ancestry, Erskin died in April 1980. He may have
remarried and is buried with a second wife.

If you have anything other than these scant details you can tell me
about this family, I'd like to add it to my doc.

Henry is my husband's great grandfather's brother.

put his date of death. She has a son Albert CARLTON that still lives in the
Scottsboro area. I think he is a preacher. Next time I see him I will ask
where Erskin is buried. I remember Janie and Erskin. I really liked both
of them. I remember the night Janie died and remember how all the dogs in
Hollywood were howling. I remember Dot but didnt really know her.

My husband is distantly related Janie. This is what I have about her
                          in my Bradford doc:

Janie (sometimes written Jane E.) Bradford was born April 22, 1893,
the second of eight children of Henry Bradford and his second wife
Mollie Ledbetter. She was born August 10, 1895 and died March 31,
1960. A. She married Erskin Womack and they had one child:

Dot Womack, born February 22,1931, who married a Hicks

There are headstones for the family in Cedar Hill Cemetery in
                          Scottsboro, AL:

                          ERSKIN WOMACK 1-5-1904 N/A
                          JANIE B. WOMACK 8-10-1895 3-31-1960
                          DOT WOMACK 2-22-1931 N/A

According to ancestry, Erskin died in April 1980. He may have
remarried and is buried with a second wife.

If you have anything other than these scant details you can tell me
about this family, I'd like to add it to my doc.

Henry is my husband's great grandfather'-s brother.

                          Annette Bradford

                            Edith,

Didnt Erskin WOMACK marry Fannie CARLTON? YES

Do you know where he is buried? CEDAR HILL I THINK.

Did they bury him by his first wife Janie in Cedar Hill? I AM NOT SURE. BUT
                            I THINK SO.

FANNIE WAS BURIED AT PRICE CEMETARY BY HER HUSBAND WALKER.

I WILL ASK ANNIE MAUDE WHEN I SEE HER ABOUT WHERE ERSKIN IS BUREID.

WILL GET BACK WITH YOU ON THIS.

I MUST BE GETTING OLD, I CAN'T REMEMBER NOTHING ANYMORE. I REMEMBER

GOING TO ERSKINS FUNERAL AND IT WAS AT CEDAR GLADE CHURCH. BUT I

CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE HE IS BURIED

The Pany may actually be Mary you would have to look at a copy of the marriage certificate to see.  Mollie was the old nickname for Mary. Do you have her on the 1880 Census? If not, do you know how her last name was spelled.

Hi, My Great Aunt told me her name was Mollie Ledbetter. I found a Mollie Ledbetter in 1870 living with her mother and grandparents Pleasant and Elizabeth Ledbetter, her mother's name was Margaret. Her father Burton was in the Civil war and probably died. I'm just not sure is she is my Mollie since the census in 1900 says she was born in Tennessee. Henry was born in Tennessee. Also the 1920 census says she would have been born in 1873 and that don't match either. The Mollie Ledbetter from Alabama was born around 1862. Thank you for yourhelp. Gina

The Pany may actually be Mary you would have to look at a copy of the marriage certificate to see.  Mollie was the old nickname for Mary. Do you have her on the 1880 Census? If not, do you know how her last name was spelled.

I am trying to help a friend find a picture of her birth grandmother. The
person we are trying to find a picture of is Jessie WALDEN or WALDON,
daughter of Newton (born abt. 1865) and Minnie WALDEN/WALDON. She had
sister Myrtle and brothers Tom and Whitt WALDEN. Jessie was first married
to George LYNCH and after he died in Birmingham she married Thomas MILLER
and I think they lived for several years in Hollywood area. She is buried
in Tennessee. Would love to hear from anyone that is related to this
                                            family.

                                            Thanks

                                            Regina
