      Subject: [j4x-owners-group] fuel filters leak

I have two Racor R21p fuel filters.  They leak very slowly and I cannot seem to find the leaking.  Last summer I changed both filters and it seemed that the leaking was at the O-ring between the top of the filter and the brass connection.  I continued to tighten until the slow leaking stopped.  However now into a new year and the slow leaking has started again.  The fuel filters are located inside the starboard stern berth in a small compartment that is totally enclosed except for a hole at the forward top side (wire access).  The leak is very slow (a wet paper towel after two weeks) but it is an annoyance and diesel smell. Any ideas?  I am thinking I should just replace the whole unit (filter and plastic viewing and water separator).

      Thanks,

      Conrad
