(US/fl) Young Boca Raton entrepreneur plans to sell vegan shoes
- Estefania Alamo says she wants people to live a simple lifestyle. And
the first steps down that path, she says, should be taken in
eco-friendly vegan shoes.
The 23-year-old Boca Raton resident, along with her father, has
launched an online crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter to produce
2,000 eco-friendly shoes without using animal products.
On Kickstarter.com, innovators — from musicians to designers to tech
startups — present business ideas and request financial backing from
the online community. Alamo's Kickstarter funding goal is $27,000 to
get her shoe venture going.
The trendy, colorful footwear will be made out of canvas, and only
environmentally friendly water-based glue will be used. No animal
products of any kind will be used either, Alamo said. The soles will
include an ethylene vinyl acetate material, a foam-like product that
is also eco-friendly and makes the shoes lightweight to feel like
you're walking barefoot, she said.
