While the number of vegan Latinos has increased within the past few
years, not all cities have been up to speed in matching those needs
commercially, leaving some in the dark about where to go out for a
      nice dinner.

According to a national telephone poll conducted by Harris Interactive
in 2011, the number of vegans has more than doubled in the past three
years, taking into account that almost eight percent of the population
      now follows a vegetarian diet.

Another study conducted by The Vegetarian Times reflects that of that
eight percent approximately one million are Vegans — two percent of
      those being Latinos.

“The demand for vegan products is high,” said Venezuelan Mariana
Cortez owner of Bunnie Cakes’ in Miami’s Wynwood Art District. “People
are looking for vegan and gluten-free foods, surprisingly, even people
that are not vegan. People that just want to eat healthier cupcakes
      and cakes.”
