SAGINAW — For people with heart disease, the path to health might not
lie in pills but cutting out one of Americans’ favorite parts of a
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton did it. He made news when he told
CNN he cut meat and dairy out of his diet in favor of fruits,
vegetables and beans. Clinton lost 20 pounds.
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of Americans, according to the
Centers for Disease Control. About 60 percent of Americans are
overweight or obese — which contributes to heart disease.
