(US/wi) Baker takes a vegan approach to cookies

Time for cookie bakers to make that grocery list:
Sugar. Flour. Baking powder. Vanilla. Nuts. Eggs. Butter. Sour cream.
Eggs? Butter? Sour cream? Not if you're vegan.
Not if you're Kelly Peloza.
The sophomore fine arts photography major at the Milwaukee Institute
of Art and Design has always loved cookies. So when she turned vegan
five years ago, at the age of 15, she vowed to find a way to keep
feeding her cookie habit.
She began with the simple chocolate chip cookie, then her family's
sugar cookie recipe, converting them both to be free of ingredients
that once had legs. More experiments ensued. Tests and retests.
Creations of her very own.
