TAKOMA PARK, Md., July 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Last night, the
Takoma Park City Council unanimously passed a resolution opposing one
of the most abusive factory farming practices: the force-feeding of
ducks and geese for foie gras.

This resolution, initiated by Mayor Bruce Williams and introduced by
Council Member Reuben Snipper (Ward 5), states that the council
"opposes the production and sale of foie gras" and further "encourages
Takoma Park residents not to buy foie gras in order to avoid
supporting this extreme form of animal cruelty."

Compassion Over Killing, a Takoma Park-based animal advocacy charity,
applauds the Council for adopting this resolution, which expresses the
compassionate sentiments shared by many community residents, including
several who testified at the hearing.
