Fellowship opening: Randall MacIver Junior Research Fellowship
      Comparative Literature and Literary Translation
      St. Anne's College, Oxford, UK

Applications are invited for a Joanna Randall MacIver Junior Research Fellowship tenable for two years from October 2013 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and not renewable thereafter.

The Fellowship is offered for research in the field of Modern Languages, with an emphasis on comparative literature and the study of literary translation. St Anne's College has a lively intellectual culture in this area: we host the Humanitas Visiting Professors of Comparative Literature and the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize; and we collaborate with the Oxford Research Centre for the Humanities in supporting the research project `New Grounds for Comparative Criticism', in which several Fellows of the College are involved. We hope that the successful candidate will play a full part in developing our activities in this area. The Fellow will be a member of the Senior Common Room.

Applications will be considered from women graduates (or equivalent) only, in their second or subsequent year of doctoral research. The legacy that funds this post contains a clause restricting it to woman only. All other JRFs that are available at St Anne's College have no restriction imposed on their funding and both men and woman can apply. Unless the circumstances are exceptional, they should neither be newcomers to research nor established scholars. Although the Fellowship is intended for a relatively junior scholar, this refers to the stage a candidate has reached in her career, rather than to the age of the candidate. The College welcomes qualified candidates of all ages and will take into account the individual circumstances of each in selecting the successful candidates. Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in St Anne's College and in the University of Oxford.

Applications should reach the PA to the Senior Tutor, St Anne's College, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6HS, by Monday 11th March 2013.

Further particulars and details of the application process can be found visiting our website: www.st-annes.ox.ac.uk. For more information, please contact enquiries@....
