      Imperial College London

      Department of Humanities

Full-time Lecturer in Audiovisual Translation and 0.5 Lecturer in
      Translation, Language and Automation

Applications are invited for two posts in the Department of
Humanities (South Kensington Campus) to start in January 2008 or as
soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidates should hold
PhDs in relevant areas. You will be expected to contribute to the
Department of Humanities' teaching and research in relevant areas and
to play a key role in developing our long-term course delivery
strategy. You should be fluent in English and at least one other
language. Subject to the ability to demonstrate appropriate skills
and experience in the areas of teaching, research and management the
successful candidate for the post in Audiovisual Translation may be
      appointed at Senior Lecturer level.

Besides contributing to research, the successful candidates will
assume a share of the teaching on the MSc in Scientific, Technical
and Medical Translation with Translation Technology, chiefly in
translation studies, language and automation, and web design. The
post in audiovisual translation will also involve the development and
subsequent teaching of a module in that area. Supervision of PhD
students is expected, and the ability to set up and administer e-
learning courses would be extremely useful in one or both posts.

Salary at Lecturer level is in the range of £38,880 to £43,420 per
annum (pro rata for the 0.5 post); the minimum Senior Lecturer salary
is £47,960 per annum. Informal enquiries should be made in the first
instance to Cath Leigh (e-mail c.leigh@...). Application
forms and further details are available from
      http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/employment/academic

      Closing date: Wednesday 26th September

Interviews will be held in the week beginning Monday 8th October
