      Now that the first Issue of SPECIFIC - English for Specific Purposes Journal
      has been published (April 2004), the Editors are once more pleased to invite
      teachers and research scholars to submit contributions to No 2.

      Deadline for submissions: 29 February 2005
      Specific is dedicated to publishing research focusing primarily on
      the linguistic description of particular varieties of the English language
      and how it can be applied to specific methodological problems. are to be
      considered from the perspective of ESP: speech analysis, acquisition of a
      foreign language (in specific contexts), use of new technologies in the
      learning/teaching process of the English language; curricula development and
      evaluation; preparation of materials; teaching and assessment techniques;
      efficiency of several approaches to the learning/teaching process of English
      as a foreign language and teachers' education. Moreover the journal welcomes
      contributions that can identify any significant aspects or needs to the
      development of ESP as well as any fields where ESP could expand into, that
      focus on the interaction of curricula and students' vocational/professional
      interests, or reflect on the implications other fields might have on ESP.

      The journal is divided into the following sections:

      'Scientific Papers' - including articles by teachers/ research
      scholars focusing on one of the proposed topics.

      'Reviews'- related to books and software published both in
      Portugal and abroad and directly related to the ESP field.

      'News' - news and information on recent publications and
      conferences.

      Notice to contributors
      Manuscripts should be presented on A4 paper and should not exceed 15
      pages, including illustrations, figures, and tables. The text must be
      double-spaced throughout. The following is to be placed on the title page:
      authors' complete names and institutional addresses, along with
      telephone/fax numbers and email address, below the article's title; an
      abstract in the same language (maximum of 250 words); key words (maximum of
      5). Three hard copies of the article manuscript, together with an electronic
      version in WORD, should be sent to:
