      when the machine does not seem to decode DTMF. Take note if there is a process called dtmf running.

      You should also look at the logs and see if the DTMF is being decoded incorrectly:

      tail /home/irlp/log/messages

      Thanks David                    Better late than never! FYI. The problem was attributed to the PC mother board bit the dust.
