      INVITATION TO APPLY

The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) invites you to apply for the CBF Chief Executive Officer position. For more details, please review the attached Terms of Reference.

      Duration:
This position will last for one year from the date of execution of the contract. Based on satisfactory performance, the contract may be renewed for successive one year terms.

Objective of the Chief Executive Officer:
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the general and active management of the affairs of the CBF, subject to the supervision and control by the CBF’s Board of Directors. The Chief Executive Officer will ensure that the instructions of the Board are carried out and that the Board receives the necessary operational support to meet and transact the business of the CBF.

Objectives of the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund:
The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (the “CBF”) is legally established as a UK Charity whose purpose is to conserve the unique biodiversity of the Participating Countries of the Caribbean region, by making grants to National Protected Areas Trust Funds (“PATFs”) in each such country.  The CBF has an initial capitalization goal of US$40 million, with over US$30 million already committed to it.   These funds will be managed as an endowment by an investment manager, with the CBF making annual grants of up to 5% of the endowment funds under management (based on a rolling average of the previous 3 years monthly value of the endowment) to the PATFs in each country.  The CBF will be managed by a Secretariat, based in Nassau, the Bahamas, with an estimated annual budget of approximately US$200,000.  The CBF’s fiscal year will run from October 1 to September 30.  The first year’s accounts are due to be filed by June 6, 2014.

Per a decision of the CBF Board, The Nature Conservancy will temporarily be serving as CBF Secretariat until a Chief Executive Officer is hired. If you are interested in providing the above services for this project, please send a letter of interest and curriculum vitae to arrive no later than 5:30 PM onOctober 10, 2013. Please indicate your earliest possible start date in your letter of interest. The ideal candidate would be available to begin work on November 15, 2013. Applications can be sent to:
