Ms. Judith Ann Towle, IRF vice-president and chair of the McFarlane
Award Committee announces the selection of Albert Hugh ("Errol")
Harris of Dominica, as the 2010 recipient of the nineteenth Euan P.
McFarlane Award for Outstanding Environmental Leadership in the
      Insular Caribbean.

Mr. Harris was nominated by Dr. Karen Eckert, Executive Director of
the WIDECAST (Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation) Network, who
provided a warm and enthusiastic endorsement of Mr. Harris's
conservation activities in Dominica on behalf of the Dominica Sea
Turtle Conservation Organization Inc (DomSeTCO). Dr. Eckert will
present the McFarlane award at the next Annual General Meeting of
WIDECAST in San Diego, the 10th and 11th of April, 2011 .
McFarlane Award recipients date back more than 20 years to the first
award made in 1988. In the intervening years, recognition has been
given to environmental leaders from St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua,
Dominica, Trinidad, St. Croix, Guadeloupe, St. Kitts, Nevis, Jamaica,
British Virgin Islands, St. Vincent, and St. Maarten. A full listing
of past recipients can be found in the attachment to this message,
which also serves as an early announcement for next year's award. It
will be noted that in 1990, Island Resources Foundation made a dual
award to Mr. Harris's fellow Dominicans Ronald Charles and Arlington

Our colleagues at Island Resources Foundation and all of those
associated with the McFarlane Award join in conveying our
congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Harris . This is a well-
deserved tribute in recognition of Mr Harris's active and committed
leadership on behalf of the rich environmental heritage of Dominica.
