      New Project
Island Resources has just signed an agreement with the VI Department of Planning and Natural Resources which will, among other things, result in the consolidation of several different collections of Virgin Islands historic environmental and conservation data into one large reference collection which will be held at the [relatively] newly restored Frederiksted Athalie McFarlane Petersen Library, which is in the historic Bell House on Strand Street.

Working with several divisions of the Department, and with the encouragement of Frederiksted Librarian Sylvie Renaud, we will be building a general reference collection which can service the needs of both the Virgin Islands community-at-large, and especially environmental researchers, including DPNR staff at the nearby Mars Hill offices. The collection will be housed on the air-conditioned third floor of the building pictured below, with handicapped access via elevator.

      best wishes
