Film Showing: "War Made Easy: How Presidents & Pundits Keep Spinning Us To Death"

      Wednesday, June 1, 2011
      7:00 to 8:45 p.m.

      Monroe County Public Library Auditorium
      303 E. Kirkwood Avenue
      Bloomington, Indiana

The Real War film series continues with a free screening of the film, "War Made Easy."

Narrated by actor and activist Sean Penn, “War Made Easy” exposes the 50-year pattern of government deception and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another, from Vietnam to Iraq. Using archival footage from L.B.J. to George W. Bush, the film reveals how the American news media uncritically disseminates the pro-war messages of successive presidential administrations.

Released in 2007, “War Made Easy” pays special attention to parallels between the Vietnam and Iraq wars. Guided by media critic Norman Solomon's meticulous research and tough-minded analysis, the film presents examples of propaganda and media complicity from the present alongside rare footage of political leaders and well-known journalists from the past.
