"The Real War" Film Series presents:

      "BODY OF WAR"

A 2007 film by Ellen Spiro and Phil Donahue

      Wednesday, September 16, 2009
      7:00 – 8:50 p.m.

      Monroe County Public Library Auditorium
303 E. Kirkwood Ave, Bloomington, IN

"The Real War," a new documentary film series examining war and military occupation, debuts with the Bloomington screening of "Body of War," winner of the National Board of Review's Best Documentary Award.

Bluntly and intimately, "Body of War" observes the day-to-day life of a disabled veteran, Tomas Young. Only 25 years old, Young was shot just days after arriving in Iraq. He now struggles to survive and speak out publicly against the war. The camera follows him for a period of months, passing through several important milestones.

The Washington Post called Body of War "powerful." The New York Times said it was "impossible not to like." Time magazine: "superb documentary ... almost unbearably moving ..."  Fox News called it "riveting."

Because of some of the images and language in this film, viewer discretion is advised.

Discussion will follow the film showing.

"The Real War" film series, sponsored by Bloomington Peace Action Coalition, is free to all and will continue to be shown on the third Wednesday of each month.
