If this guy is an itinerant carpenter he is probably in and around the areas
most recently destroyed by the storms along the gulf coast which more than
likely means he is living in a tent or other temporary shelter, collecting
cash, and eating in a group setting (with the other workers). Have you
considered the possibility that he is using another name during the
unaccounted for times in his history? The other possibility is that he is
tired of the foul weather and has moved out of the area to get away from it.
It sounds like he may be borderline homeless though that is an impression
from reading your post rather than anything else.

I have done two of these cases and both took a very long time to resolve
along with a lot of footwork for which there is no substitute in these
situations. My suggestions would be as follows:

      1. Post office to see if he collects general delivery mail
      2. Local Police Department to see if he is entered into an Event Index.
Not all police departments have or use Event Indexes but those that do will
have a record of contact with him even if he is only a witness and not a
suspect. There will also be an entry if he was ever contacted for any other
      reason.
      3. If you have a picture of him that is reasonably recent (within 10
years) you may go to places where day laborers sit and wait for the
opportunity to do manual labor. These would include community day labor
facilities, warehouse type home improvement stores and so on. Go early in
the morning as you will have the widest audience for your query.
      4. Finally, it is possible that he has died and his body went unclaimed
for lack of identification or next of kin. In that case, there will be no
      record of his expiration.

      Hope this helps.

      Hello All,

I'm seeking advice/suggestions on a case that has regrettably
brickwalled. I'm hoping someone with more experience, more expertise
might lead me in a direction that I've overlooked or haven't
      considered.

My Client, an Illinois Family wants to locate their estranged 52-yr
old Brother. The elderly Mother is dying. The Brother provides a
decent trail (mostly addresses, all in or near Ft Lauderdale)for
many years prior and up to 1996. Then, his trace quickly
fades/disappears. He re-surfaces in December 2003 via an Eviction
      Order. (Broward CO., FL)

      Case brief:
Brother has lived in Florida for 20 years (BROWARD COUNTY, Ft.
Lauderdale.) Ex-wife hasn't seen/talked to him since 1996. He owes
court-ordered child support arrearages,(so she was eager to talk).
Ex-wife explained that he never had a legitimate paycheck, he
typically was paid cash for carpentry jobs, no bank account, no
property. Presumably to avoid social security and it's trail.

I've run reports on him using 3 seperate PI online databases:
      AUTOTRACKSXP, TRACERSINFO, IRBSEARCH.

      NO Relatives found(just ex-wife),
NO roomates, NO CURRENT driver's license found. NO Landline Phone
      found.

      Last DL Info:Issued in 1996
      Last Motor Vehicle Registered: 1996

I've concentrated my search in FLORIDA, as that is
historically/personally relevant with this subject but he could be
      anywhere.

I've checked local FL obits, SS Death Index, FL Dept Corrections.
Is it possible he is deceased? How would we know?

Regarding the 2003 Eviction court document-It identifies my guy by
First & Last Name only, which, thankfully, is a fairly UN-common
name. The address on the Eviction Order is the first record of it.

I believe the Brother has been intentionally "hiding" since 1996 to
avoid child support obligation, if for no other reason. Ex-Wife says
State of FL (Child Support) abandoned the case. And years ago, an
      attorney/or/PI failed to find him.

My retainer fee was exhausted hours ago. That's okay.
Unfortunately, this remains "an open case", which as you
know, is even more frustrating & disappointing for the client than
      me.

Again, thanks in advance! Amy Drescher
