Just thought the members ought to know.

      1) It is illegal to possess a radio scanner capable of
reception on any FCC allocated cell phone frequency
unless you are a member of law enforcement.

      2) As part of the legislation that prohibited the mere
possession of radio reception equipment capable of
reception on any FCC allocated cell phone frequency
unless you are a member of law enforcement, federal
laws prohibit the sale and/or importation into the US
      of any radio so equipped.

      3) It is illegal to receive even the "early vintage"
cordless phones that are not "cell phones" which any
cheap FM radio receiver (scanner or the old crystal
controlled types). In some states like NY it has been
upheld that a crystal controlled "scanner" or
programmable scanner "set" to receive on the cordless
      frequencies constitutes a crime.

I happen to hold an FCC 1st class radiotelephone
license with radar endorsement and I can tell you
first hand that many people I know of have in-fact
been prosecuted for the mere possession of these
      devices.

In plain ENGLISH - is it worth it to loose everything
you have (your license, reputation, etc.) for perhaps
a few extra bucks in these kinds of cases????
