As Bill said, "if they tried that on anyone who could afford a lawyer,
      they'd wear it home."

I'm very sorry for Michele's problems. I have spoken with her throughout.

Sorry, guys, but I have to tout the Pre-Paid Legal guys again. They will
help even in these situations, and to a certain extent with pre-existing
conditions. I love and support Michelle, but just wish I had been forceful
enough to make her sign up for PPL. Still, while not everything is
available to her under the plan and with her pre-existing situations, she
could still get thousands of dollars of help for almost nothing. I feel
like a loser for not being willing to push when I knew she was shortly
      going to need this help.

We should all support her. She is a great lady, and has done much to help
us all. I'm willing to help her, how about all you folks? What can you
      offer?

Many of you may know Ma-Bell Michelle; she could sure use a kind word, or a

If you read that Complaint, it is such an incredible crock . . . if they
tried that on anyone who could afford a lawyer, they'd wear it home.

As Momma used to say, "Tain't smart to bully girls and little boys - if'n ya
whup 'em, yer just a bully, but if'n they whup you, ya gotta leave town."

His name? J Grahame Bell -- and he is a nephew of A. Grahame Bell

Reminds me of a suit in England a few years ago .. McDonald's Corp was
suing one and all for the use of the word McDonald's (as in McDonald's
Tea Shoppe and Crumpets - small local establishment) -- turns out to
have been a "bad move" seem that the Scottish Laird (Lord) Ronald
McDonald and Head of Clan McDonald (true.. and he is NOT clown) was the
ONLY person under English Law entitled to rule on whether or not a
person place or thing can bear the name "McDonald" --- in a statement
to the BBC, he suggested that rather than pick on small businesses, the
McDonald Corp come after him ... since at the Castle HE served a
"McDonald's Breakfast" -- as I recall, there was no comment from the
hamburger folks and the other suits were dispatched by the English legal
system, where common sense still seems to have a small part to play

Awesome!! It will be interesting to hear what he has to say on this issue.

          Wellllll.... It's kinda, sorta true.

I'm from Scotland, and can tell you that the head of the McDonald clan is
not Ronald McDonald. Ronald McDonald is a retired schoolteacher from
Aberdeen who is displeased he has to share his name with the clown who
          promotes the McDonalds burger chain.

The Rt. Hon. Godfrey James Macdonald, 8th Lord MacDonald, is the current
head of the Donald clan and lives at Kinloch Lodge, a hotel he runs with his
wife (Claire McDonald) on the Isle of Skye. The seat of the Donald clan
since 1790 (Armadale Castle) was abandoned in 1925. It's currently
          unoccupied.

He did, however seek assurances from the McDonalds corporation that any
business in Scotland could use the name McDonald without fear of lawsuits.

It's still a good story though.

          Jim

              Jim Parker et al:

I apologize for violating one of my own rules -- I didn't check the
facts ('twas 1996 fer Gawd Sakes man) -- did the research, and you,
Jim, remembered better than I did

              succinctly:
              # McDonald's threatened the owner of a UK sandwich bar called "McMunchies"
with legal action for breach of trademark. A retired Scottish
school-teacher called Ronald McDonald, and the chief of the McDonald
clan in Scotland were both outraged at this further attempt by
McDonald's to claim global dominion over the prefix "Mc" and the name
"McDonald" which has been an Irish and Scottish family name for centuries.

Having said that -- my version was more fun to tell ....
