Re: [infoguys-list] Digest Number 949
- UK - CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS
Good Morning America
The need for such checks has become more common over recent years!
To clarify the position in the UK, there are a number of Options available.
1) The Job Applicant can apply himself - using Application Forms from the
Police Force of the Area he last resided, or the CRB (Criminal Records
2) The Employer can request from the CRB with a Release
3) A Good Indicator (not 100%) can be undertaken by PI's by:-
a) Checking the Local papers in those Areas where the Subject has resided
and been employed over the past years.
b) By requesting from the Local Magistrates and Crown Courts a "Certificate
of Conviction" - If they have no record of the Subject, they will normally
reply to that effect - whereas, if the Subject has been convicted, they will
supply (under existing law not yet overturned by EU Bureaucrats) a formal
Document which sets out the details as were publicly disclosed in the Court
Case. This normally includes:
The Name and DoB of the Offender
The Date of Conviction
The value of Goods (Stolen or Damaged) if applicable
Oh, BTW - A significant number of Police Officers in the UK are now
routinely armed !!
Thankfully, we still manage to retain as a general rule a largely unarmed
Police Service, as does the Republic of Ireland as well !
Kind regards to all
