Great article. Thank you,

Dear Colleagues -
The writer, Michael, and my co-recipient, Jack, are two of the brightest
minds I've ever had the pleasure of "think tanking" with. Jack was the CEO
Westinghouse International for 47 years. Michael owns a chain of small banks
in VA and is economically as savvy as they come.
I share this with you only because it lays out certain relevant issues we've
been discussing historically and intelligently, more intelligent than my
explanations could ever be.
Obama Declares War on Investors, Entrepreneurs, Businesses, And More

Jack and Sue,
if you look closely at that article, it says that the federal government
spending is increasing to 30% of GDP under Obama. Currently, it is about
That is a whopping 35% increase to the federal government. The article goes
on to say that this is approaching the sizes in Europe. What the author
forgets to include is the spending of state and local governments which is
currently at about 23% of GDP. So if you add 23 to 30, the total of all
governments in the USA will be about 53% of GDP with the Obama plan. That
exceed even the most socialistic of countries in Europe. Obama is
redistributing the wealth through government spending, taxation, and
increased cash in circulation by $1 Trillion (50%) in one month when it had
increased 10% in the last 20 years. The combination of increasing cash (to
cause inflation and the devaluation of wealth) and increased government
to help his constituency and increasing taxes on the wealthy ... is
socialism ... and it is tyranny.
Obama is trying to destroy the USA.
In our high school biology class we did all the normal stuff. Some of it
was gross and some of it was boring, but this story sticks out to me:
Our teacher, a male, told us that if you placed a frog into a pan of water
and slowly turned up the heat, then that frog would just sit in the water
boil to death. But if you took a second frog and threw it into the water,
then that frog would immediately jump out of the boiling water.
Taxes in the USA are slowly killing our country and because they have been
done incrementally, we Americans are slowly boiling to death like the frog
not noticing that the water is boiling.
What do these taxes have in common?

None of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most
prosperous in the world. We had the largest middle income group in the
mom stayed home to raise the kids.
Today, the average American pays more than 50 percent of income to federal
and local taxes. And our politicians keep promising more benefits to more
people. Where are they going to get the money?
Let me point out one more example. Our politicians have promised universal
healthcare insurance and more healthcare benefits. They have also promised
more money to educators when education is already at the highest cost per
student in the world. Those politicians claimed that they could get some of
money by ending the conflict in Iraq and by reducing military expenses.
OK, that is just plain bull!
Our military expenses including Iraq are only 4 percent of GDP, which is
well below the historical average of 7 percent and the highs of 20 percent
during other war times. There is no money available from Iraq or any part of
military without compromising the security of America.
Benefits are today about 8 percent of GDP, which is twice as much as
military expenses. And the current political proposals and our aging
will increase it to 18 percent. Where is the money? Even if our military is
shut down completely, that 4 percent spent on military will not cover the
increase needed for benefits. It can only come from increased taxes. And
to cover this $1 trillion of benefit increases (33 percent increase to the
total federal government), taxes on Americans will be increased to more than
percent of income.
The federal government spends $3 trillion per year. Local and state
governments spend about the same amount for a total of about $6 trillion.
Domestic Product (GDP) is about $13 trillion. You do the math.
Ravi Batra is correct. Our democracy in the USA is electing politicians who
continually make more promises that bring more socialism that will
lead to chaos and the death to America as we know it … and then
The following quote is attributed to Soviet Leader Nikita Khrushchev: “We
cannot expect the Americans to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can
assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of Socialism
they suddenly awake to find they have Communism.”
Cited in the Christian Science Monitor_[L1]Ci
(aoldb://mail/write/template.htm#_msocom_1) ) , Norman Thomas was a leading American socialist who ran for
president of the Socialist Party of America six times. In a 1944 speech he
The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the
name of “liberalism,” they will adopt every fragment of the socialist
until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it
happened … I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the
Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform.
The frog will boil to death. Democracy will boil to death. Capitalism will
boil to death. Our contract commitment from the government called the US
Constitution will boil to death. The USA will boil to death.
David Drapkin is a dear old friend of mine. He is a concept thinker of the
baby boom generation. He wrote this and I could not say it better myself.
“America” is not only a word. America is a concept created by the
Founding Fathers and partially encapsulated by the US Constitution. In my
(based on my ability to read), “America the concept” includes: rule of law
(neither rule of the majority nor rule of a dictator nor rule of the
a central government limited to those powers enumerated in the Constitution;
the primacy of the individual over any group or class of people. If one
assumes that the US Constitution is the “template for America,” it is not
difficult to look at an instance of a government and decide whether a change
that government brings that government closer to or further from “America
the concept.” As Americans I believe it is our duty as citizens to keep the
government on course.
As Robert Houghwout Jackson, _[L2]_
(aoldb://mail/write/template.htm#_msocom_2) ) Chief Judge at the War-Crimes Tribunal in Nuremberg, so
stated, “It is not the function of our Government to keep the citizen from
into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government from
falling into error.”
In my view, the American government is more deeply in error than debt. I
would guess that 80 percent of all non-military government expenditures are
within the boundaries specified by the Constitution.
Getting back to the original discussion, I think it is reasonable to create
a continuum from Anarchy to Absolute Dictatorship and place “America the
Concept” somewhere on that continuum. Or, one could evaluate each “state”
government and assess, on balance, the “distance” between a state of
government and “America the Concept.” But, eliminating a “state” of
because it is transient seems pointless to me since all of the works of man
ultimately transient. It is only a matter of the timeframe in which events
Within “America the Concept” individual freedom is cherished. It is
self-evident that an individual’s choice of how to dispose of the fruits of
labor is a basic individual freedom. Using the police powers of the
to take money lawfully earned by an individual at the point of a gun is
acceptable only insofar as monies so taken are used solely to pay for the
legitimate functions of government as enumerated in the Constitution. Tax
spent for any other purpose is criminal theft.
If the government takes money from Citizen A and gives it to Citizen B
(redistribution of wealth), that is a criminal act of theft. And, any person
supports it via word or deed is guilty of criminal conspiracy. If you think
that I use the word “criminal” loosely, you are mistaken. The Constitution
does not grant any power to the federal government for redistribution of
wealth. (Don’t give me any of that crap about the “common good” either.
clause is about actions for the common good within the enumerated powers of
the federal government.) More significant is that Socialism in the form of
redistribution of wealth is a major deviation from “America the Concept.”
such, Socialism and Socialists are, by definition, Un-American.
In a letter to Thomas Cooper written on November 29, 1802 Thomas Jefferson
said, “I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too
many parasites living on the labor of the industrious.”
