I can't address the Panasonic unit, but with the Sony, whether the date/time
appears on dubbed video is a menu selection. According to the Sony DCR-H52
you want to set DISP OUT to V-OUT/LCD in the menu.

If your Sony is already set to this correct setting, then it sounds like a
problem with the video software you are using. Personally, I use Adobe
Premiere. I dub all my surveillance video on the computer because attorneys
find it easier to simply play it on their computer than on an old-fashioned
VCR. Premiere does everything I need and I find that it does it quite well.
I've have used Pinnacle in the past and tossed it, (literally). I found it
to be buggy, cumbersome and a generally bloated, crappy piece of software.
Just my opinion.
