you are close to the quotation i got yesterday, 4,300 for the bumper,
2600 for the painting of the bumper, 700-1000 labour and extra if
there is some damage to the condenser or radiator. i think i will go
for insurance claim coz ne ways the no claim bonus amount comes to the
amount that i will get from insurance right now. so it's better to get
that money now. by the way i would like to know what is the average
that people are getting on XETA GLG 1.2 i am getting 5-7 KPL in city
with 0-50% AC. on highway it some where above 11 KPL. it is brand new.
      just 10 days old.

          Hi,

Just curious, if you claimed insurance, then how come you had to still shell
out 2.5K? Also what are the consequences of claiming insurance? Someone told
me that your next year premium will go up and your car value will come down
          etc.

            Hi Karthik,
Sorry for replying so late. well here's the deal. if you do
no claim the insurance, then you get a no claim bonus at the end of
year which is 30 percent of the premium that you pay. Secondly, i had
shell out 2,500 Rs because the bumper is fibre and not metal, so it
has 50 percent depreciation. the bumper costs 4,300 so i was asked to
cough up half of it. i.e. 2150. since the company gives black
bumpers, they need to be painted and that was covered under tha
insurance so i was not supposed to pay for that. but i was asked to
pay the labour charges which are not covered under the insurance
which i conclude from the charges that i have paid. so the rest 350
was the labour charges that i was asked to pay rounding the figure
close to 2,500 Rs. well this amount is 1000 bucks lower than the no
claim bonus that i would have got after a year. so if i do not claim
the insurance then i would have been asked to cough up 8000 Rs. which
did not seem to be the right move. i hope it solves your query.
regarding the premium amount that might go higher next year, well the
dealer did not tell me anything about it. so i will get that
clarified and get back to you on that.
