My steering used to make noise like " CHE - CHE " while turning, TASC applied some greasing and the sound is gone, never heard it again. So would advise you try greasing first and see what's the effect of it.

I have an indica DLE year 1999 May purchase and have already replaced the
rack-pinion assembly about a year back with Rane original assembly at the
Tata Motors workshop in Mumbai. While taking a turn the steering makes a
slight creaking noise (no power steering installed) and so I had it checked
with Ropshan Motors in jaipur where I am now located. They said the noise
comes from the assembly and needs replaced approx cost 5000. I am amazed
that a robust assembly like the rack-pinion needs to be replaced twice when
the car has not run even 50K. Its now 48,684 kms to be precise.
Can the assembly be greased? or is replacement the only option.
I have freaked out on this advice.
what does TIUG have to say now. Need advise.

I am the only person that I know who has downsized tyres. My Marina front ones are 165/80R14 instead of the OEM 175/65R14.
