      Hi all,

I own an Indica DLS purchased during the
      month of May 2004.

After going through Prabodh's mail I have
developed an anxiety whether the 'draining'
of coolant is taking place in my car also.

Outwardly, I do not notice any leakages. The
parking place is absolutely clean and devoid
of any liquid/oil on the floor.

      I do have a basic question :

      * Which coolant are you talking about ?
      ( Engine Coolant, A/C Coolant etc )

      * Do let me know where exactly is this
coolant compartment located under the bonnet?
( Any distinguisable feature, lettering etc )

      Thanks.

          Hi,

My Indica is facing much reduced pickup with AC in 2nd
& 3rd gear as if a trolley is tied behind it. If I
keep rpm high ie change gears later (upto 15kmph in
          1st, 35kmph in 2nd and 55kmph in 3rd) then it is
normal. In trafic, I need to start from first gear
ahead; can not accelerate from 2nd or 3rd.

          Recently I have got AC gas top up done at dealer;
after that I am facing this problem. There is no
increase in AC cooling with gas charging. My Indica is
of Mar 2K with Subros AC.

If members have got some tips; kindly let me know.
Also if someone has fitted FICD in old Indica.

          Regards,

          Jagjeet Singh

            Hi,
My Indica DLS is 2 months old (Apr 2004) and I have
            driven 3800 kms.

Problem area : Average is going down day by day &
don't get enoght pickup/power while AC is on.

I understand that after the 1st servicing there will
be some improvement in average and performance.

            Please look at the following:
            Date Pump Kms Qty Avg
            01-04-2004 Shell-Bandra 76.00 5.00 15.20

            13-04-2004 Shell-Bandra 157.90 10.90 14.49
            19-04-2004 Shell-Bandra 413.40 29.77 13.89

            10-05-2004 Shell-Bandra 130.60 9.47 13.79
            17-05-2004 Shell-Bandra 330.50 26.62 12.42
            19-05-2004 Shell-Bandra 79.00 7.17 11.02
            27-05-2004 Shell-Bandra 387.30 30.82 12.57

            For 1st 1200 kms I drove below 65km/hr.
After that I have been going up to 80km/hr.
95% of my driving is in City condition.
My earlier Indica DLE (Dec 99) would always give me
            average of 14+ in city.

If someone can throw some light on this problem.
            Thanks
            Dewang Desai

                    Dear Dewang.

My guess is that you need to fill tankfuls to be able to guage mileage esp since the Indica's fuel guage is famous for
                    its inaccuracy.

If you calc overall avg, its 14.5+ and if its with AC thats pretty good. If your AC is effective then I wouldn't worry
too much, just give the engine enuf time to pick up the RPMs. If it isnt ask them to tune the engine RPM with AC
properly + tighten the acc cable.

Also, in Indica V2, oil changes are at 10000 kms.

There is only one Coolant Container Bottel in the car.

I would recomend to use a Coolant Concentrate (Golden
Crusier) and diluting it with 50% water - not more
                      than that.

This should be good when the a/c runs - would keep the
                      temperature low.

                      thanks

                        Hi Sanjay,
I always use full tank concept to gauge the average.

My worry is not the overall average of 14 odd. But if
u notice, average is going down day by day.

I use only one pump for fuel and add SystemD too.

Some times the pickup is so bad that car is not ready
to even take off in 1st gear. Somehow i dont like the
                        half-clutch style of driving.

I went to TATA's own service station and explained
them the situation. They did something with the RPM
and engine tuning. after that the pickup was amaizing
but the average drop down to 11. They again changed
some setting and pickup came down and average is up by
                        one.

                        Thanks
                        Dewang

                          Hi,

Please help me to locate an HP
outlet which serves HP Turbojet Diesel
in the southern part of Bangalore
( Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Banashankari, Basavanagudi,
                          BTM layout etc ).

I was informed in one of the HP outlets that,
at present, HP Turbojet Diesel was sold only
in MG Road ( Bangalore ) outlet. Is it true ?

Any help in this matter ?

                          Regards

                            Dear Prabodh

Coolant level droping is not at all a minor
problem...if the engine runs dry of coolant, it may
                            lead to ceasure...

i would advise u to check a few things... first check
the level of engine oil with the dipstick... if the
level of engine oil has incresed, then the coolant
must be getting mixed with the oil inside the engine
head / block... if this has happened u should
experience some misfiring of engine...If this is the
case take the complaint very strongly with the
                            dealer....

if there is no leakage & also no increase in the
engine oil...then check the cap of the coolant bottle
                            is firmly tightened....

if u still have a problem...contact pune plant....

                            regards

                            Kedar Tamhankar

                              Hi All,
As I had mentioned in my previous mail, I noticed that the coolent
level had droped to Minimum level in my Indica DLS which had
completed running of only 700 kms.
Is this a normal behaviour, Indica needs to top up coolent
                              level so frequently?
What is the normal consumption of coolent in Indica Diesel?
                              Thanks,

                                Hi Prabodh,
Even I too saw the same problem in my car & took to the dealer,
Thay said it should come till atleast 10,000 KMS, & said their was a
minor leak in the hose. So do checkout the same. but then I haven't
noticed any leak in the garage.

The delear gave this me for free as part of warranty.

they gave a suggesation that never switch off the engin when
engine fan is running or about to start. Switch off only after the
                                fan stops.

Also check the cap of the coolant is closed properly.

The coolant is not for the AC. It is needed to cool your engine. It
should not go below the low level line when your engine is cold. If it
has, do fill with water to bring it to midway between the low level
and high level in cold engine condition.

                                    Do not wait for service.

                                    Check for leaks.
