this could be interesting; friday, bettina johae (from glowlab and i
think she had some work at dumbo or conflux) is on the list, and david
last. and chika, which is a name that sounds familiar to me but i
don't quite remember. giles, cj, adam kendall are on saturday. luke
dubois on sunday. it's all new york city-y stuff, with a lot of
familiar names, looks like fun, i will definitely try to be going to
      all 3 days.

      Save the dates for:

vBrooklyn -- A video festival about Brooklyn as a place and video as an art
      form.

vBrooklyn documents the evolving state of Brooklyn, NY, through contemporary
video-art. The festival showcases video-artists as they build an historical
record of the borough through innovative, entertaining and personal
      interpretation and documentation.

It's presented in conjunction with Forward Motion Theater and hosted by
Polytechnic University's Integrated Digital Media Institute. It's happening
at Polytechnic's Wunsch Hall, Downtown Brooklyn, on:

      Friday, November 30, 8pm
      Saturday, December 1, 8pm
      Sunday, December 2, 1pm - 8pm

Complete schedule and additional information at http://www.vBrooklyn.org

The festival features IDMI's 9-channel video system. Over 25 artists will
present live and composed multichannel video-performances and screenings
focusing on the immense complexity and detail that make Brooklyn a unique
city within a city. Subjects will include Brooklyn's waterfront from Coney
Island to Greenpoint; landmark bridges and architecture; neighborhoods such
as Bensonhurst, Kensington, and Atlantic Yards; and the people and
experiences that define Brooklyn as a place.

There will be demonstrations of video technology, and there will be
discussions focusing on the intersection of urban history and video
      technology.

vBrooklyn will also screen Manhattan Borough Historian Michael Miscione's
"The City of Greater New York: The Story of the Consolidation of Today's
Five-Borough City", a documentary featuring New York City's absorption of
      independent Brooklyn.

      Hope you can make it.
