      Hi

      Suppose I have a /29 of IPv4 addresses to be bound to eth1 on a debian 7
      (wheezy / stable) box.

Lets say the subnet is 10.23.85.240/29

      auto eth1
      iface eth1 inet static
      #pre-up /sbin/ethtool -s eth1 autoneg off speed 1000 duplex full
      address 10.23.85.242
      netmask 255.255.255.248
      gateway 10.23.85.241
up ip addr add 10.23.85.240/29 dev eth1

The /29 doesn't seem to come up, only the 242 IP is pingable.

Am I stuck with creating a separate eth1:1, eth1:2 etc for each of the 5 usable IPs in the /29 subnet?

      thanks
      suresh
