That sounds like a great idea. My only suggestion would be to say not “Let’s meet online now” but “Let’s meet online in an hour.”
Email is an asynchronous conversation, this gives folks who aren’t on the mail right that second time to get the message, clear things off their plates, and play.
First of all thanks to all those who helped test the Vyew Icons “virtual game room”. I got quite a bit of positive feedback.
I figure the real challenge is going to be scheduling. It can be hard to commit to a regular game in advance, I’d struggle myself with that. And keeping a regular online group together is going to be near impossible.
Then it occurred to me, if scheduling is going to be difficult, why schedule at all?
So here’s the idea. Next time I've got a free evening and urge for running an Icons game, I’ll send an invite to this mail list with a link to virtual game room. Anyone who is available at the time can join simply with a mouse click, no need to pre-arrange anything. If we get two or more players we play, if not it’s no big deal, I’ll just try again some other time.
How is that for simple?
Obviously with this format we’re looking at self-contained adventures rather than a full blown campaign, but I figure that is kind of Icons was designed – stop worrying and start playing!
