AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler will guest on the September 10 episode of the three-time Emmy Award-winning, critically acclaimed and nationally syndicated "The Dr. Oz Show".
"The Dr. Oz Show", hosted by the two-time Daytime Emmy Award-winning host Dr. Mehmet Oz, is now in its fifth season.
"The Dr. Oz Show", which is currently seen in 118 countries worldwide, debuted domestically in 2009 with the biggest ratings in nine years in daytime television.
Speaking candidly about his past drug addictions with People.com, Tyler said in a 2012 interview, "I blew 20 million. I snorted my Porsche, I snorted my plane, I snorted my house in that din of drugs and booze and being lost." He added, "I kept my medicine cabinet on stage, in a 14-inch drum head, the bottom of which contained . . . one Dixie cup (paper cup) with a straw and blow (cocaine) in it and the other with Coca-Cola and Jack Daniels in it."

In his memoir "Does The Noise In My Head Bother You?", Tyler goes into detail in the tome about the stage injury that led him back to drugs and eventually another stint in rehab in late 2009, during which AEROSMITH flirted with the idea of hiring a new vocalist.

AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler joined the band's frequent collaborator, singer-songwriter Marti Frederiksen, on stage last night (Tuesday, September 3) at the Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tennessee to perform two songs: "Dream On" and "Jaded". Fan-filmed video footage of Steven's appearance can be seen below. In an October 2012 interview with Examiner.com, Marti stated about his relationship with AEROSMITH: "I have been working AEROSMITH now since the late '90s. My first time was with the album 'Nine Lives' and I was the co-writer on that. And then I got to co-produce on 'Just Push Play'. And I have worked on a couple things between that and now. So I have been in the touch them and I became pretty good friends with Steven now and we hang out a lot. We just came around to write some more stuff for this new record and I was able to get five songs on their new album, three of them I produced with Steven. It's always a pleasure to work with the band." Asked how he first got involved with AEROSMITH, Marti told Media Mikes: "I worked with a band many years ago called BROTHER CANE and AEROSMITH's A&R guy heard the song we had done and he really liked the approach of the song. I was lucky enough to get a meeting with him from this and he asked me if I would be interested in working with AEROSMITH. This was in 1997 and at that time the band was coming off of the 'Get A Grip' album." On AEROSMITH's latest album, "Music From Another Dimension!", Marti co-penned five songs and he produced three tracks, which include the singles "What Could Have Been Love" and "Love Her A Lot". "Both songs went to radio [in August 2012]," Marti told Suite101.com. "'What Could Have Been Love' went to adult contemporary station and 'Love Her A Lot' is mainstream and active rock. They are completely different songs, but that's the wonderful thing about songwriting since you can sit down and write a fast up-tempo rock song with heavy riffs and the next day you could write a nice beautiful song with piano. That's where they are both coming from."

METALLICA's "Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)" two-disc CD, the soundtrack companion to the forthcoming groundbreaking 3D feature film "Metallica Through The Never", will be released on the band's own record label Blackened Recordings on September 24 and highlights last year's career spanning sets at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where the band filmed all performance footage featured in the film. The soundtrack is available for digital pre-order and both the CD and digital album will be available at all retailers. There will also be a vinyl edition of the soundtrack album available in both 33 1/3RPM and special limited numbered 45RPM versions later in the fall. The live version of "Master Of Puppets", taken from "Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)", can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. "Let's hear it for the old-school soundtrack!" said METALLICA's Lars Ulrich. Not only are we beyond psyched about our movie coming your way shortly, but the fact that we get to share the music directly in all these formats is way fuckin' cool." "Metallica Through The Never" stars METALLICA, one of the most popular, influential rock bands in history. In this music-driven, 3D motion picture event, award-winning filmmaker Nimród Antal immerses audiences in a bracing, raw and visceral cinematic experience with spectacular live performance footage of METALLICA's most iconic songs — created exclusively for film — combined with a bold, narrative story featuring imagery drawn from the band's trailblazing iconography. Dane DeHaan portrays Trip, a young roadie sent on an urgent mission, during METALLICA's roaring live set in front of a sold-out arena. The film features dazzling pyrotechnics, the most elaborate live-performance stage ever built and state-of-the-art 3-D photography, captured using up to 24 cameras simultaneously. Picturehouse will release in North America on September 27 exclusively in over 300 IMAX 3D Theatres, and will expand into additional theaters on October 4. According to The Pulse Of Radio, DEF LEPPARD's recent Las Vegas extravaganza will hit the silver screen for two nights in October. NCM Fathom Events together with AEG Live and Network Live are bringing DEF LEPPARD "Viva! Hysteria" concert to over 250 theaters across the country with a full front-to-back performance of 1987's multi-platinum "Hysteria" album — along with a healthy dose of the band's greatest hits. Tickets for the screenings are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. A clip of the "Pour Some Sugar On Me" performance from "Viva! Hysteria" can be seen below. Frontman Joe Elliott shed some light DEF LEPPARD's recent Vegas residency at the 4,000-capacity Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, explaining, "We've been asked for many years if we'd ever play an album in its entirety, and the answer was always no because we'd be out promoting a new album. Then in March and April 2013 when we had no new music to promote, we had a chance to revisit arguably our most important album. It was an easy decision to make." He went on to say that the stigma involved in rock musicians playing "Sin City" has long passed: "As for Vegas, it's no longer perceived as the place crooners go to die! Artists like MÖTLEY CRÜE, ELTON JOHN, GUNS N' ROSES and CHEAP TRICK have recently done residencies and rock n' roll has definitely moved in! So, there was no better place for us to take the show. It was a fantastic experience for us and for our fans." Joe Elliott told The Pulse Of Radio that the band's humble beginnings back in England never even hinted at where they'd be today. "35 years after starting out in a little school in Sheffield, and then the next thing we're doing a residency in Vegas," he said. "It was never on the agenda back then, y'know? But being in a band more than seven or eight years wasn't either. So, at this moment in time you're just kinda making things up as you go along, because, things just keep appearing for us. Like; 'Hey — you guys fancy doing this?' 'Well, that's something we've never done.' And as soon as we can say that out loud, it's appealing for us to do it, ''cause it gets you off the treadmill." The theatrical showings will be followed by a companion DVD, Blu-ray and live album that Elliott tells Billboard.com will chronicle "the whole shebang" — not only the "Hysteria" set but all of the other songs DEF LEPPARD played over the two nights the show was filmed. "VIVA! Hysteria - Live at the Joint, Las Vegas" will be made available on CD, Blu-ray disc, DVD Video, and digital download in October at your favorite music retailer. * North America: October 22 * Germany, Austria, Switzerland: October 18 * Rest Of Europe & Oceania: October 21 * Japan: October 9

MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil stopped by the KVVU Fox 5 studios in Las Vegas on August 26 to discuss the band's upcoming second residency at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel Casino and eventual farewell tour. You can watch video footage of his appearance below. Asked about reports that that the final chapter for MÖTLEY CRÜE could come as early as 2016, after the film version of the group's biography, "The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band", gets completed, an accompanying album is released and yet one more tour around the globe, Vince said: "We just think it's kind of that time — to do one big push. The tour will last, like, two years. And kind of go out on top. I mean, we've been together, actually, 32 years, and by the time we finish up, it'll be 35 years. So that's a good enough run." Vince also insisted that MÖTLEY CRÜE's retirement will be for "real" and that they won't hold multiple farewell tours like certain other acts. "There are some bands that are on their fifth and sixth farewell tour," Vince said. "Nah, we're not gonna do that. I'm not gonna say we would never get back together and do some concerts or something — we wanna keep that open — but we're not gonna do a farewell tour and then a couple of years later go, 'Ah, never mind.'" MÖTLEY CRÜE will return to Las Vegas for an exclusive twelve-show engagement September 18 through October 6 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

MÖTLEY CRÜE will return to Las Vegas for an exclusive twelve-show engagement September 18 through October 6 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The band blew away fans and critics in February 2012 with twelve over-the-top, sold-out shows. The fall shows, dubbed "Evening In Hell", will be an all-new production and the band is pushing their own envelope once again. The production is being designed exclusively for The Joint in partnership with AEG Live and will see the band performing in front of just 4,000 people per show max, a far cry from the arenas MÖTLEY CRÜE is accustomed to playing. Join MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx on the official MÖTLEY CRÜE Twitter account for a live Twitter question-and-answer session at 9:15 a.m. PST on Thursday, September 5 to talk about "An Intimate Evening In Hell". Follow and submit your questions to @motleycrue with the #MotleyinVegas. "There's a lot of cool stuff we're going to use this time," MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil told Vegas.com about the band's upcoming return to Las Vegas. "Technology changes so rapidly and new stuff comes out all the time. All of a sudden someone goes, look at this, and we go, 'Holy sh*t, that's cool.' "We have to outdo ourselves every time we put something new together. This one — I don't know how we're going to top this one. There's some crazy stuff going on in this thing and just a lot of fire and smoke and monsters and all kinds of cool stuff."

According to The Pulse Of Radio, VELVET REVOLVER and ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum was in a remote fishing village in Japan on Monday (September 2), where he was protesting the town's annual dolphin hunt. Sorum is the latest artist to join a growing international campaign to stop the yearly dolphin kill in the small central Japan village of Taiji, which was first brought to global attention by the 2009 documentary "The Cove", in which the filmmakers secretly shot footage of the atrocity. The movie depicted how dolphins are herded into a cove and speared by fishermen for their meat. The fishermen say the hunt is part of their village's tradition and call Western critics who eat other kinds of meat hypocritical. Sorum arrived in Japan on Sunday (September 1), the day the hunt begins, along with dozens of conservationists from both Japan and the West. The drummer said in a phone interview as he watched the hunt, "Like a bad nightmare, I'm watching it almost like a twilight zone, surreal, looking into my eyes in complete disbelief — what's going on in front of me." Sorum, who currently leads his own band called KINGS OF CHAOS, said he hopes to organize a rock concert in Tokyo to bring more attention to the kill. "The Cove" features Ric O'Barry, who trained dolphins for the 1960s TV series "Flipper" but has devoted the latter part of his life to protecting dolphins and keeping them in nature. Dolphin and whale meat is considered an eccentric delicacy in Japan, though not all Japanese eat it and not all Japanese know about the hunts. Some Japanese nationalist groups have accused O'Barry and other Westerners of using the controversy over the the hunt to interfere with Japanese culture.

On Sunday, August 25, legendary guitarist Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) headlined Rock N' 2 Remember, a benefit concert to raise funds for benefit several charities assisting those affected by the Yarnell Hill fire. Also on the bill were STORM OF PERCEPTION, RAZER, BUCK & EVANS, JOHN FIDDLER and STELLA'S INFIRMARY. The event took place at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds in Prescott, Arizona. Fan-filmed video footage of Slash's performance can be seen below. Slash and his bandmates MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS — Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass) and Frank Sidoris (guitar) — recently wrapped a world tour for their critically acclaimed album "Apocalyptic Love", which earned Slash his two first-ever #1 rock radio hits: "You're A Lie" and "Standing In The Sun". The CD was produced by Eric Valentine, who did the same honors for Slash's first, self-titled solo disc, and all the songs on "Apocalyptic Love" were written together by Slash and Myles Kennedy. This fall, Slash will release "Nothing Left To Fear", the first-ever motion picture he has co-produced from Slasher Films, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer's production company. "Nothing Left To Fear" will have a limited release in select theaters nationwide on Friday, October 4 and arrive on Blu-ray Combo-Pack, DVD, and On Demand Tuesday, October 8. "Nothing Left To Fear: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" will also be released on October 4, exclusively at PledgeMusic.com/slash, the same day the film opens in select theaters.

Singer Geoff Tate — who was fired from the Seattle progressive rock band QUEENSRŸCHE last year after fronting it for three decades — was granted a continuance until January 27, 2014 in his legal battle with his former bandmates over the rights to the group's name. Tate and his wife, Susan, QUEENSRŸCHE's former manager, filed a lawsuit in June 2012 asking the judge to award them the rights to the band's name in exchange for Tate paying Eddie Jackson (bass), Michael Wilton (guitar) and Scott Rockenfield (drums) the fair market value for their interests in the QUEENSRŸCHE companies. Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson filed a countersuit against the Tates in which they accused Geoff of creative obstruction and violent behavior, and Susan Tate of questionable business practices. In their August 9 motion to continue the trial date — originally scheduled for November 18 — and amend the case schedule, the Tates requested "a minimum 180-day continuance to provide sufficient time for the parties to continue active settlement negotiations without incurring substantial trial preparation costs and, if such efforts fail, to provide sufficient time to complete discovery and properly prepare for what will be a very lengthy trial." The Tates added that "80 potential witnesses" have been identified for trial and they estimated that the parties will need to collectively take 20 to 40 depositions. Further complicating the scheduling of depositions is the fact that Tate's former bandmates will be traveling for most of September and will be unavailable for depositions. Said the Tates in their motion, which can be viewed on the The Breakdown Room web site: "There simply is not enough time to properly prepare for trial. Discovery is incomplete. Even if the parties only depose a fraction of the witnesses identified, doing so will take 20 to 30 days. Many of these witnesses are located out of state. The facts that underlie this dispute span nearly 30 years. Trial could take three to four weeks with 20 to 40 witnesses." On August 16, Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson filed an opposition to the Tates' motion to continue the trial date and amend the case schedule, claiming that "any challenges [the Tates] face [in preparing for the trial] are 100% the result of their failure to properly prosecute their case and as such should not be able to delay the resolution of this matter to [Tate's former bandmates'] detriment or [Tate's] advantage." "From October 2012 until April 2013 there was nearly no activity in the case," Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson wrote. "In April 2013, [the Tates] propounded interrogatories and requests for production on [Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson]. Responses were supplied in May. Not until July 31, 2013, did [the Tates] raise any objections to the adequacy of the responses to that discovery, more than two months after said responses were served. Other than two related subpoenas for documents, [the Tates] have engaged in no other discovery." Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson also accused Geoff Tate of "continu[ing] to harm the QUEENSRŸCHE brand" since the Tates' original lawsuit was filed in June 2012. "The newest self-titled QUEENSRŸCHE CD release by the [Todd La Torre-fronted version of the band] entered the U.S. charts at #23 and continues to get 9-out-of-10-star reviews and is still selling very well on a weekly basis around the globe," Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson wrote. "In comparison, Geoff Tate released his own QUEENSRŸCHE CD in April of this year titled 'Frequency Unknown' and depicted as F.U. on the cover, which entered the charts at #82, received very bad reviews around the world, and has slowed to almost no more weekly sales. [The Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE's] new CD even outperformed the last two CDs of them with Geoff Tate, selling more in a month than the 'Dedicated to Chaos' CD has since its release in 2010, and charting much better than both that album and the previous one, 'American Soldier'. Thus, the return to the classic sound [Tate's former] bandmates have made with the new CD and live shows has been met with overwhelming success." They added: "Geoff Tate also chose very poorly in hiring live musicians that have shown that they are not capable of representing the correct performances of the QUEENSRŸCHE music legacy, and he was constantly replacing them. He has been offering his low-quality version of QUEENSRŸCHE to the promoters at a much reduced rate, as low as $10,000 per night, when, in fact, [his former] bandmates have done their best to keep the authorized QUEENSRŸCHE at an average of well over $20,000 per show this entire year. However, this becomes harder and harder with Geoff Tate's sub-par band and cut-rate pricing that continues to be damaging to the QUEENSRŸCHE brand and legacy no matter who ultimately wins control after trial." In a brand new interview with The Oakland Press, Rockenfield said said that "negotiations are ongoing between Tate and the singer's former bandmates and "there's still time for anything to happen between now and [the start of the trial]." "I think our confidence is pretty high," Scott said. "There's a lot of legal stuff you have to deal with, but we just feel good and look at it as a light at the end of the tunnel and keep playing shows and making music. I think when you do that, the right decision will be made in time."

Vinny Cecolini of Jam Magazine recently conducted an interview with QUEENSRŸCHE drummer Scott Rockenfield. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. Jam Magazine: Do you at all regret that your disagreement with Geoff Tate spilled out onto the Internet and into the music media worldwide? Scott: We have always only spoken the truth. We have never avoided any type of engagement on this matter and we're not here to defend ourselves. I'd rather let the music, this band and our chemistry together do the talking for us. There are fans on the Internet, however, who insert themselves into the rhetoric. For what it's worth, this would be an interesting reality show if you trolled the Internet to read about our transition. However, it would be time-consuming, and I'd rather write new songs and focus on what I'm good at. Jam Magazine: When I spoke with Geoff Tate earlier last spring, he said the legal battle involving the band's names is about the dissolution of a corporation. Scott: [Silent pause] My answer to all of that is simple. If the case goes all the way 'til the actual [January 2014] court date, the judge is going to look at the facts and he or she will make a ruling. Hopefully, his or her decision will be based upon what is best for the band QUEENSRŸCHE, the brand QUEENSRŸCHE and the corporation QUEENSRŸCHE. It is an entity, and a successful one at that. I hope that come [January], the judge overseeing this case will do what is right for the band as far as who carries on with the name. I'm not a legal guy, so I do not know all of the details. But I have learned a lot from my attorney. Jam Magazine: You don't seem stressed about the upcoming ruling? Scott: If I worried about everything that was going on right now, it would eat me alive. Whatever happens, Todd [La Torre, vocals], Parker [Lundgren, guitar], Michael [Wilton, guitar], Eddie [Jackson, bass] and I going on as a group regardless of the [January] ruling. We will continue on as a unit of five guys that makes records and plays shows. We have something that no one can take away from us — chemistry and friendship. No one can take that away from us. Jam Magazine: How long did it take La Torre to become comfortable performing as QUEENSRŸCHE's singer? Scott: When we played our first song together during the first RISING WEST show, the four of us knew instantly we were going to be able to do something together. The band felt comfortable on stage and off. We knew that traveling together was not going to be a problem. During the last year, we have gone on multiple tours using a bus. It felt like we were meant to be together. Being on the road was so much fun; we were always looking forward to our next tour rather than dreading it. That had been a case for a while. Now we just count down the days until new shows are booked and we're back on the road performing another show.

Following a summer of storming through Europe, South America and Mexico while topping the bills at solo shows and major festivals, SLAYER will headline its first North American tour in two years. The five-week-plus trek will kick off on October 22 in Anchorage, Alaska, oddly enough marking the first time the band has played there since October 23, 1996. The tour will include the band's previously announced return to New York's Theatre at Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Palladium, venues the band hasn't performed at in 25 years. SLAYER — bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, guitarist Kerry King, drummer Paul Bostaph and guitarist Gary Holt, who continues to fill in for the late founding member Jeff Hanneman — will have GOJIRA and 4ARM support on all dates. Tickets for all dates on SLAYER's U.S. tour, go on sale beginning this Friday, September 6. Log onto Slayer.net for complete on-sale dates and ticketing information. While still recovering from the devastating loss of Hanneman, Araya and King have begun to work on new material and hope to spend some time in the studio prior to this tour. With more dates to be announced, confirmed dates for SLAYER's 2013 fall North American tour are as follows: Oct. 22 - Sullivan Sports Arena, Anchorage, AK Oct. 25 - The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, NV Oct. 28 - Hollywood Palladium, Hollywood, CA Oct. 30 - Events Center @ San Jose State, San Jose, CA Nov. 08 - Myth, Minneapolis, MN Nov. 10 - FunFunFun Fest, Austin, TX Nov. 12 - Bayou Music Center, Houston, TX Nov. 13 - South Side Ballroom, Dallas, TX Nov. 15 - Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL Nov. 16 - The Fillmore, Detroit, MI Nov. 17 - LC Pavilion, Columbus, OH Nov. 19 - The Fillmore, Washington, D.C. Nov. 20 - Stage AE, Pittsburgh, PA Nov. 26 - Oakdale Theatre, Wallingford, CT Nov. 27 - Theatre @ MSG, New York, NY Nov. 29 - Susquehanna Bank Center, Camden, NJ Nov. 30 - Tsongas Arena, Boston, MA Bostaph was SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band — the gold-certified "Divine Intervention" (1994), the 1996 punk covers album "Undisputed Attitude", "Diabolus In Musica" (1998), "God Hates Us All" (2001) that received a Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance", as well as the DVD "War At The Warfield" (2001), also certified gold. In addition to SLAYER, Bostaph has been a member of FORBIDDEN, EXODUS, SYSTEMATIC and TESTAMENT. Original SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo sat out the band's recent Australian tour due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. Filling in for him was Jon Dette (TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX).

During a brand new interview with Chile's Radio Futuro, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine was asked about his recent revelation that he was "studying a lot of world history and a lot of crazy science stuff for new lyrics" that will presumably be included on the band's next studio album. "Writing a record takes a lot of time," Dave said. "And when you finish a record, there's kind of like a period after an animal gives birth to another living creature — it has to heal and it has to get its strength back then, within a short period of time, it's ready to rock again. "I think right now, with going out and doing Gigantour after we finished 'Super Collider' and being with a new record label and having David Ellefson [bass] playing with us again, and the IRON MAIDEN tour and the [BLACK] SABBATH tour and everything, all these things that are going in the right direction for us, it's just exciting and it makes us wanna play. "Shawn [Drover, drums] and David and I have all talked. Chris [Broderick, guitar] talked a little bit about it, too — about us starting to write music for the new record. And I think that when you have a band like MEGADETH, you've gotta spend time writing the songs. There's so many different talented writers there, if you don't listen to everybody's ideas, it would be kind of stupid." Mustaine also spoke about his daughter, Electra, performing a cover version of the MEGADETH song "A Tout Le Monde" on a Seattle-area TV show. "Yeah, that surprised me," he said. "I didn't know she was doing that. I know she sings, but I didn't know she was gonna sing 'A Tout Le Monde'." He added: "She has a great voice. She sings better than I do. She loves music, that's for sure."

MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson has uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the band's September 3 concert at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, North Carolina as the support act for IRON MAIDEN. Check out the clip below. MEGADETH's latest album, "Super Collider", has sold 65,000 copies in the United States since its June 4 release. The CD arrived in stores via MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine's new label, Tradecraft, distributed by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). It marks MEGADETH's first release since the band's split with Roadrunner Records. MEGADETH filmed a video for the "Super Collider" title track on May 10 in the Los Angeles area. California-based model, actress, singer and songwriter Hunter Elizabeth was cast in the lead role in the clip, which she says is "about a high-school couple still loving each other after all the years after graduation, and at the 10-year reunion, both characters find themselves successful (a model and a mathematician) and still very in love."

There;s swagger, there's punch, there's speed and there’s dirty filthy grooves, Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee showing clearly that MOTÖRHEAD is not simply a band, it's a genre!" "Steal it if you must, buy it if you can!" says Lemmy, whose pride in the album is so immense that guests to his home and dressing room in the last couple of months have been treated to extremely loud airings of the rough mixes, while Phil Campbell adds, "I really think the variation on the album shows that we've dug deep and produced some of our best work for a long time." "It is," says Mikkey Dee, "a really, really strong MOTÖRHEAD album, one that really does define everything this band stands for." MOTÖRHEAD canceled a handful of shows on its European festival tour last month after Lemmy suffered a haematoma (where blood collects outside of a blood vessel). The news of Lemmy's latest medical issue followed reports that he was also recently fitted with a defibrillator because of heart problems.

North American metallers ICED EARTH have completed mixing and mastering their new album, "Plagues Of Babylon", for a January 2014 via Century Media Records. Says ICED EARTH guitarist/mainman Jon Schaffer: "It's been a long summer, but a very productive one. "I am very proud of my bandmates! Everyone kicked ass, and we made a really special record. "Now it's time try to rest for a few 'minutes' before the next chapter of world touring begins. "Best to you all! We will see our European friends on the road with our brothers in VOLBEAT, then the rest of you on the worldwide Plagues tour 2014!" Speaking to Metal4 magazine at the Rockharz open-air festival in Germany in July, Schaffer said about the upcoming CD: "It's a bit of a different thing for us, because it's half of a concept and the other half is [standalone] tracks. Musically, I think it's just another step in the right direction. It's really heavy, it's very melodic. It has a really epic feeling. Even though there isn't, like, a monster, long epic track, the overall feel of the songs is very epic. I mean, there's no 'Dante's Inferno' or 'Gettysburg' or the 'Something Wicked' trilogy or something like that on here, but I'm really happy with it." Songtitles set to appear on "Plagues Of Babylon" (among others): * Plagues of Babylon * Democide * Among The Living Dead * The Resistance * If I Could See You * Peacemaker * Cthulhu * Parasite ICED EARTH recently parted ways with drummer Brent Smedley for "personal family reasons." He has since been replaced by Raphael Saini (CHAOSWAVE). ICED EARTH has been hitting it relentlessly, with the recent studio album, "Dystopia", being the most toured album in the band's illustrious history. One of the many highlights of the "World Dystopia Tour", a headline show at the historic Kourion Amphitheatre in Cyprus, was recently released on Blu-ray, DVD and in many other formats under the title "Live In Ancient Kourion". "Dystopia" was released in October 2011 via Century Media Records. The CD marked the band's recording debut with singer Stu Block (INTO ETERNITY), who joined ICED EARTH in March 2011 following the departure of Matt Barlow.

Steve Baltin of RollingStone.com recently conducted an interview with Robert DeLeo and Chester Bennington of the new version of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. Regarding his decision to join STONE TEMPLE PILOTS as the replacement for Scott Weiland, the LINKIN PARK singer said: "I think that this is happening at the right time. From an outsider, this is something I expected was going to happen. For us the transition has been about as smooth creatively as a band as possible. And the fact that we all get along so well, we enjoy each other's company, we have the same work ethic and we're all enjoying what we're doing, it's a trip in a lot of ways. At the same time I have the chance to write songs with two of my favorite songwriters that have ever written, Robert and Dean [DeLeo]. Writing songs with these guys, that's something I can check off my list of shit to do." He continued: "One of the things I've enjoyed the most about this process is seeing these guys have a good time doing it, and everybody's talking and we're all smiling. I've seen this whole process become fun for these guys again and see the joy that everybody is having when we're doing band-related stuff. So that, to me, is a really great reward . . . The depth or the length at which I think these guys have been operating for the last 10, 15 years, they've put their dues in and they've really tried to make it work. This was the choice they had to make, and if it wasn't me it was going to be somebody else. STP is moving forward without Scott 100 percent, whether I say yes or no. So I'm just glad that it's me, because I am such a big fan of the band — I know the songs as well as these guys know the songs, maybe even better than some guys know the songs. And I do my best to honor the legacy of the music. We just want to go out and fucking play and have fun doing it — play rock and roll really loud and smile." Speaking about STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' split with Weiland, Robert said: "It was a very difficult decision to terminate the face of your band. There are many paths to the history of certain bands and each one is a little different, but it all kind of turns out the same at the end. But it was a very difficult decision to do that. That's as big as it gets. But we really didn't have any other choice. I don't want to get too into that right now because of legal things, but Dean, Eric [Kretz, drums] and I have been saddled by someone for a long time. We've always looked out for Scott's best interests and tried to be a great friend to someone who really didn't care to be friends with us . . . And I don't think we had any other choice. We knew that was what we wanted before we thought about getting another singer. I think Scott's made it very clear, his path and his decisions on what he's done with or to this band. So when you're in that situation, Dean, Eric and myself would rather move ahead. I want to have fucking fun, man, making music. I have the complete luxury of making music for a living. If I'm around people that don't fucking get that, then I want to be around people who get that." STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will release a new five-song EP called "High Rise" on October 8. The disc will be the second release featuring Bennington following current single "Out Of Time", which emerged last spring and went to No. 1 on the rock chart. The band fired Weiland in February and sued him in May, accusing him of using the band's name to advance his solo activities, while claiming that his poor performances, late arrivals, and addiction struggles harmed the band's career. Weiland has countersued, claiming that the band cannot use the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS name without him.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's Justin Reich-directed music video for "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone", off the band's new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video, "Unblackened", can be seen below. Originally penned by blues legend Bill Withers, "Ain't No Sunshine" is one of two covers found on "Unblackened". Says BLACK LABEL SOCIETY frontman Zakk Wylde: "'Ain't No Sunshine' is such a beautiful, heartfelt song. I've always loved it and wanted to cover it. It felt so right in the context of 'Unblackened'." "Unblackened" will be released on September 24 by Eagle Rock Entertainment. Zakk's label home, eOne Music, will also release the audio version of the "Unblackened" DVD under the same name. The double disc release will have six additional tracks not found on the DVD, including two acoustic versions of "Queen Of Sorrow" and "Won't Find It Here", and covers of LEON RUSSELL's "Song For You" and "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone". Since their early Nineties inception, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, formed and helmed by guitar legend Zakk Wylde, has been at the forefront of hard rock. Their penchant for hard riffs and blazing solos has resulted in a slew of hugely successful albums and a reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation. "Unblackened", however, unveils another side of the band. Filmed and recorded on March 6 in high definition at Los Angeles' Club Nokia, "Unblackened" is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY presenting their songs in a whole new light, with greater use of acoustic instrumentation. Wylde plays both guitar and piano, with Nick Catanase on guitar, John DeServio on bass/vocals, Chad Szeliga on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards/piano, and Greg Locascio providing additional vocals. Their stripped-down approach highlights the subtler nuances of the songwriting, without losing any of the fire or intensity. Classic tracks like "Stillborn", "The Blessed Hellride", "In This River", "Throwin' It All Away", "Losin' Your Mind" and many others are still punctuated by the stinging, searing solos that fans know and love, while showcasing the versatility of the band. In addition to the concert, "Unblackened" is rich in bonus material. A new interview with Zakk, photo gallery, music video for "Losin' Your Mind", and a feature with Wylde visiting HM Prison Stocken in the U.K . are all included. DVD track listing: 01. AVENGED SEVENFOLD's sixth album, "Hail To The King", sold 159,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on August 27 via Warner Bros. The band's fifth album, "Nightmare", also landed at the top of the chart after selling 162,500 units back in August 2010. AVENGED SEVENFOLD's self-titled fourth album registered a first-week tally of 94,000 copies in November 2007, nearly three times what its 2005 effort, "City of Evil", sold in its biggest week on the chart. AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows said a few months back that the sound of the new CD was channeling earlier records from acts like PANTERA, METALLICA, BLACK SABBATH and others, and he told The Pulse Of Radio again just recently that the band was aiming for an older feel. "We said, 'Well, why don't we make a record that we would want to listen to today, that sounds like a late '90s or before record?'" he said. "And then we said production-wise we've got to make it sound like one of those records. We've got to have the big guitars, the huge drums that are over the top, and just like the punch that those records gave you. So what I would say is that this is a record in 2013 that reminds me of like an early '90s or before type metal record." "Hail To The King" is AVENGED SEVENFOLD's first full album written and recorded without drummer and charter member James "The Rev" Sullivan, who died in December 2009 during the early stages of writing for "Nightmare". AVENGED SEVENFOLD recently notched the fifth No. 1 single of the band's career as the song "Hail To The King" reached the top of the Active Rock radio chart. The band will begin a fall headlining North American tour on October 3 in Chicago, concluding on October 26 in Las Vegas. Support on the road trip will come from DEFTONES and GHOST. AVENGED SEVENFOLD's video for the song "Hail To The King" can be seen below. The clip was directed by Syndrome, an award-winning design and live-action directing studio. "Hail To The King" track listing: 01. Shepherd Of Fire 02. Hail To The King 03. Doing Time 04. This Means War 05. Requiem 06. Crimson Day 07. Heretic 08. Coming Home 09. Planets 10. Acid Rain

'80s hard rock queen Lita Ford will release a new live album, "The Bitch is Back...Live", on October 22 in North America, on October 25 in Germany and on October 28 in the rest of Europe through SPV/Steamhammer. The disc features a recording of Lita's October 2012 performance at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California. The album will be released as a digipak with a special booklet including fan photos and download. Where does the title come from? Lita opens the show with her rendition of the classic Elton John track "The Bitch is Back", which was previously released as a bonus track on "Living Like A Runaway". "Well, I heard [the original version of the song] on the radio and I just thought it worked for Elton John, and it works for Lita Ford," Lita explained to Metal-Rules.com when asked how she came to cover the track. "It kind of makes a statement, saying, 'She's back,' and this is me saying this, not anybody else, you know?! It came from me, and I spoke to Elton John backstage before we released the album and I wanted his blessing. I didn't want to just take his song and do it because I've done my own version of it. It's more guitar-orientated instead of piano. So I said to him we're doing 'The Bitch Is Back' and we gave him a copy of it, and his tour manager wrote back and said, 'It's one rocking version.' But I went backstage because he came through town and I went backstage and said, 'Hello!' and he said, 'That's my song,' you know, 'That's my song,' and I said, 'Yes, it is your song,' and I said, 'Thank you for letting me do it,' and he said, 'Thank you for doing my song.' So I thought, 'Right on, I got his blessing.'" "The Bitch is Back...Live" track listing: 01. The Bitch Is Back 02. Hungry 03. Relentless 04. Living Like A Runaway 05. Devil In My Head 06. Back To The Cave 07. Can't Catch Me 08. Out For Blood 09. Dancing On The Edge 10. Hate 11. Close My Eyes Forever 12. Kiss Me Deadly Ford has recruited Bobby Rock (VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, NELSON) to sit behind the kit for her shows in Australia, Europe and the U.S., as well as the recent Monsters Of Rock cruise in the Bahamas. Lita's touring drummer for much of 2012 was Scot Coogan, who has previously played with BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, ACE FREHLEY and LYNCH MOB. Lita's current touring lineup: * Lita Ford - Guitar, Vocals * Mitch Perry (MSG, ASIA, EDGAR WINTER) – Guitar * Bobby Rock (VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, NELSON) – Drums * Marty O'Brien (WE ARE THE FALLEN, TOMMY LEE, STATIC-X, DISTURBED) - Bass Lita last year filmed a video for the song "Mother" in
